Crane-assisted tree removals feature prominently in customers’ accounts of Phil’s Tree Service in Keene. In a July 2025 Google review, a Francestown customer described removing three giant pines near power lines and a state road, with a price below competing quotes. A September 2025 customer said Tim and his crew removed six trees, arrived on time, protected the property and cleaned up afterward. Smaller tree-care jobs appear too. In August 2025, Kathryn Rolston of Swanzey described Chris and Eric retrieving a cat that had spent 36 hours in a tree, then trimming trees and clearing the debris. Another August 2025 reviewer described repeated calls for careful tree trimming and receiving chips for garden mulch. In March 2026, a neighbor of a customer who hired Phil’s to remove six large oaks said two workers spent three hours cutting the wood into 18-inch lengths for firewood. The company advertises 24/7 emergency service and says it is insured. There are serious complaints alongside those accounts. In a February 2024 review about an early-fall 2022 maple removal, a customer said a falling trunk section damaged a wraparound porch roof and eave. The reviewer identified Jon as the owner, said repeated repair requests had not resolved the damage by February 2024, and considered the price extremely high, while praising the crew’s work and cleanup. Two May 2026 reviewers objected to trucks and tree equipment operating before 7 a.m. One also described half the road being blocked without cones or signs. A July 2026 reviewer said they never heard back; a July 2023 reviewer had made a similar callback complaint. Google lists 4 stars from 24 ratings, and a June 2026 reviewer praised the crew and pricing.
“Occupation: Founder and former owner, Phil’s Tree Service, Keene”
“It was harvested in Keene and put up on Nov. 17 by a crew from Phil’s Tree Service and Keene Public Works.”
Never heard back
Great crew and good pricing
Very familiar with the previous Phil’s Tree owner & his positive long standing reputation in Keene, so I feel truly disappointed/frustrated to see the Phil’s Tree crew in a tight residential neighborhood revving their diesel trucks and engines, running the chipper, using chainsaws - before 7am for several (non) consecutive days. Blocking 1/2 the road while sitting in the drivers seat of the truck on cell phones with the door wide open? No cones or signs anywhere on the street? This is a very obvious & sad shift from how Phil’s Tree was ran & operated for so long before, not paying respect to the men who began such an esteemed & successful business. Do better.
It's so cool they bring diesel trucks and chainsaws into a residential neighborhood before 7am. Anyone who works second or third shift really appreciates the racket. But I get it, it's very important to bring down trees before 8am so these guys can wrap up their day early.
