Forty-two Google ratings averaging 4.9 — and nearly every one of them is about a gift shop. Pine Ridge Farm sits on Main Street in Boylston, and what its customers write about is the retail side: farm-fresh chicken and duck eggs, local crafters' work, homemade soup and quiches, wreath-making classes. In a 2023 review one visitor catalogued the whole place, from alpaca-hair teddy bears to custom town-logo glassware to the cafe's homemade breads; another, writing in 2022, ordered duck eggs and called them fresh and fairly priced. One name keeps recurring in those reviews: Gigi, who hosts the tea parties and the holiday workshops. The landscaping is the quieter half of the business. The company's own site describes a landscape and garden design practice handling commercial and residential design, estimates and installation, and says that side has run since the late 1980s — with the farm itself dating to the early 1900s, when it was one of Worcester County's first fruit and farm stands. Those are the company's claims about itself, not independently confirmed. Outside word on the design work is thin but real. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported in 2021 that the Boylston Garden Club wanted to thank Gigi Stowe of Pine Ridge Farm and her team for providing landscaping when the club updated the plantings at the town gazebo. That garden-club note is the one time someone outside the business has publicly described its landscaping. So the honest read is a well-liked local farm and garden center whose design practice its neighbors appear to use but rarely write about. If you're hiring for a design-and-install job rather than picking up flats of annuals, ask to see photos and references from recent residential projects, and get the plan and estimate in writing — the company says the plan and the estimate come together. Worth knowing too that the written trail is aging: the most recent quoted review is from December 2024. For plants, containers, a wedding's flowers, or a garden plan from someone who has been working the same Boylston ground for decades, it's a reasonable call. Pin down the scope of the landscape side before you commit to it.
