We built our home with Brian Plowman and Plowman Builders. The experience was overwhelmingly positive. From the very beginning, their team stood out for their professionalism and commitment to excellence. They kept us informed every step of the way, ensuring there were no surprises. Whether it was a design decision, a potential delay, or a new idea we had, they were quick to respond and provide clear explanations. One of the aspects we appreciated the most was their transparency with costs. Every expense was detailed, with no hidden fees or unexpected charges. It made budgeting for the project much easier and gave us peace of mind. Brian was incredibly accommodating with adjustments. As we navigated the build, we decided on a few changes, and they were more than willing to work with us to make those updates happen without compromising the timeline too much. The only downside was the project took longer than we anticipated. While some of this delay may have been related to lingering COVID-19 supply chain disruptions and labor shortages, it was still a bit frustrating to see the timeline stretch out. That said, they were upfront about the delays and did their best to minimize the impact wherever possible. Despite the longer timeline, we are thrilled with the final product. The craftsmanship and attention to detail exceeded our expectations, and the process felt collaborative and supportive. If you're looking for a builder who prioritizes quality, transparency, and communication, we highly recommend Plowman Builders. Just be sure to build in some extra time for potential delays, as the wait is well worth it.

My husband and I met Brian Plowman in January 2023. We contracted with him to build us a new home as we were planning to move from Manchester, VT to Gorham, ME. My husband and I turned to Plowman Builders in 2019 when it was time to build our retirement home, and we could not have been more pleased with the results! We have the home of our dreams in a sweet little neighborhood in Gorham Village. First of all, Brian provided us with a number of architect-designed house plans from which to choose, making that part of the early building process much easier on us. He shared his expertise and previous experiences so we could find the perfect plan for our specific needs and wants. Secondly, we found that Brian was extremely knowledgeable about the construction field, about town codes, and about the latest and best trends in building. As important, he is honest and fair. Those are all major qualities needed in a General Contractor. Plus, he can “swing a hammer!” He has built homes himself so he knows the importance of quality work. For our build, Brian used a number of local, highly qualified crew members and subcontractors, something that was very important to my husband and me. On occasion, due to circumstances beyond his control (like Covid-caused delays), Brian did have to make changes to his sub list, but he was quick to do that when needed in order to keep the building process going as smoothly as possible. He would also change subs when he found the quality of their work was not up to his high standards. That was definitely something else we greatly appreciated about him. He aims for quality and demands that of his workers and subcontractors. To this day, we are extremely grateful that we chose Plowman Builders. Brian was a tremendous help to us through the entire building process. He responded quickly to any of our questions, provided us guidance and advice whenever needed, and always demonstrated his extensive knowledge of the construction field.
