Portillo's Fence & Construction is a family-owned gate and fencing contractor based in Everett, run by Edwin — Angi's profile for the company self-reports 11 years of experience, Spanish-language service, and free estimates. Angi rates it 4.8★ from 8 reviews, and it holds Angi's Approved certification. The specifics back up the average: in a 2025 review, a repeat trade client called Edwin the most punctual and conscientious subcontractor he'd worked with, always returning calls and showing up on time. A 2026 review of a PVC fence install and a wood fence repair both praised the price, communication and turnaround, and a 2024 review described Edwin coming through reliably on a time-sensitive snow-removal job for a landlord, plus a quick railing repair on the side. One account breaks the pattern. In a 2025 review, a customer said Edwin promised to match an existing fence but showed up a month late, brought cracked and wrong-species lumber, used a post he'd been told not to, and built the gate a foot shorter than the fence. Angi's profile for the company notes that Portillo's publicly disputed this complaint. Massachusetts exempts fencing-only contractors from home improvement registration, so there's no license status to check here. Given the one detailed dispute, it's worth getting the scope and material specifics in writing before work starts, especially on a wood fence job like the one at the center of that complaint.

Vinyl or PVC Fence - Install. Great work and a great company to work with. Price was very good as was the communication.
Vinyl or PVC Fence - Repair ($1,650). Very professional and got the job done.
Wood Fence Repair ($1,800). Edwin & his crew did a fantastic job for us. Their response time was quick & efficient. Can't wait to use them again on our other property!
When I first met Edwin he was very polite. He promised to follow the explicit details of the project which were to match existing fence. He said he would start in two weeks. When he finally showed up it had been a month. He stayed for a few hours and went home sick after having brought a small amount of disgraceful materials. I mistakenly agreed to pay $300 for these in advance. The wood was cracked, some posts too large and the boards the wrong species. After being instructed not to use a specific post he did so anyway. Then proceeded to make the gate a foot shorter than fence. After he left I noticed the cross bars were pine which he argued and lied over until Angi got involved. To keep job he agreed to get cedar like the original fence. By then I had had enough manipulation and childishness. He insisted on finishing job and I did not want him to. So in fear he would, I had to keep and move the materials he lazily left. Edwin is dishonest, and immature. I do not recommend him! (The company replied that it brought all the materials, that the owner was sick that day, and that the $300 deposit covered material and labour.)
Edwin is the most punctual and conscientious sub I have worked with ever! He's available all the time, returns your calls immediately and actually shows up when he says he's going to, does the work on time and is a precise and conscientious craftsman in his trade. I would highly recommend him for any quality exterior landscaping, fencing, and other related jobs that he would be suited for.
