Preferred Propane is a propane company with a heating and cooling installation side. A recent customer who hired the company years ago to install a new furnace and AC system at their home calls its rates very fair and its techs friendly and knowledgeable. A recent customer says Mike did the job with great communication throughout. The installation side draws a sharp complaint from a recent customer on a home remodel, who writes that the propane delivery business was sold to High Grade and that the trouble was with Preferred/Violette Mechanical's installation business. That customer says the two sons who do the installation work showed up at the beginning of the job and then not again until the end, when the inspector was coming the next day. A 2025 customer said their account was sold to High Energy Propane, that three weeks of trying to get a delivery ended with the tank running empty, and that they were then asked to pay a $120 leak test fee. A 2025 customer who called for emergency service said the person on the phone was very rude. In 2022, a customer said the company listed itself as open 24 hours but was closed at 10am on a Tuesday. In 2025, a customer said the staff communicated about timing and expectations. A 2023 customer praised quality work, short lead times and fair pricing.

Mike did an awesome job. Great communication throughout 👍👍
Hired this company years ago to install a new furnace and ac system at my home. Their rates are very fair and their techs are super friendly and knowledgeable! I will never call anyone else.
I have mixed feelings about this company. I have no problem with the propane delivery business being sold to high grade. They are fine. The problem is with preferred/violette mechanical’s installation business. The two sons seem to do all the installation work and they will show up at the beginning of the job and you will never see anyone again until the bitter end when it’s almost too late and the inspector is showing up the next day. It was a painful experience to say the least. I had no problem with any other subs on my home remodel except for these guys. The other subs were making fun of the fact that these guys just never showed up. They will tell you how busy they are and that they are going to fit you in and they will not show up. I would never use them again for anything related to installation or repair. Unless you have unlimited time and patience, I recommend just moving on.
They sold my account to High Energy Propane and everything went straight downhill after that. I spent 3 weeks trying to get a simple delivery. Signed up on the new company’s app, got the classic “someone will contact you” message, and of course nobody ever did. Two weeks later I called them myself. They couldn’t even find my account, said they’d call me back, and never bothered. Another week passed and my tank ran empty because nobody could do their job. Now they want to charge me a $120 leak test fee just because the tank ran out thanks to their mess. Absolutely unacceptable. Preferred Propane sold my account to a company that can’t even locate a customer, let alone deliver propane.
Excellent and knowledgeable service across the board! The staff makes sure to communicate with you about timing and expectations. Always a pleasure to work with them!
