Twenty-three years in Franklin, two employees, and one first name running through every review: Tim. Progress Contracting Corp. is Tim and Nicole Fiorillo's company — family owned and operated, in its own words — incorporated in 2003 as a fine carpentry and woodworking firm and now doing design-build additions, major renovations and custom homes. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 138181, is active in the company's name, and its BBB file has carried accreditation since March 2012 with an A+ grade. The jobs on show are big ones. Houzz puts the typical project at $150,000 to $500,000 and lists nine of them — Westwood additions and kitchens, a Wrentham garage, mudroom and master suite, a Watertown second- and third-floor remodel, an addition to a historical home. A homeowner writing in 2011 hired the company for a second-story addition in Westwood and said Tim handled an extensive job and accommodated changes as it went. In a 2018 review another put it plainly: "Tim is reliable, honest and accountable -- a real rarity." One account cuts the other way, and it is specific. A customer writing in July 2007 called it a "mixed bag": easy to talk to, reasonable on price, but "does not prioritize projects" and "occasionally contractor did not deliver on promises", concluding it suited work without strict deadlines. That is nearly two decades old, but scheduling is the one thing anyone has complained about here, so it is the thing to pin down. The other honest caveat is volume. Four written reviews across the directories, the newest from October 2018 — a long, quiet record rather than a busy one, so ask for references from jobs finished in the last year or two. The company also states it is licensed in Massachusetts as a Lead-Safe Renovation Contractor, worth confirming in writing if your house predates 1978. Right call for a large design-build addition or custom home in the Franklin-Westwood-Wrentham belt where you want the owners running the job themselves.
