Six hundred and seventy-four hires and a 4.8 average across 398 reviews — R&I Moving and Home Care has done more jobs through Thumbtack than most local movers will book in a decade. It is a family-run operation out of Lawrence with six employees, and it has held Thumbtack's Top Pro badge every year from 2020 through 2025. The work is moving, in almost every form: residential and apartment moves, furniture and heavy lifting, piano and pool-table moving, packing and unpacking, furniture delivery, junk removal, and move-in/move-out cleaning. They cover the Merrimack Valley and reach into southern New Hampshire — Andover, Methuen, Tewksbury, Haverhill, Lowell, Reading, Georgetown and neighbours, with Plaistow, Atkinson, Salem and Windham across the line. What customers keep describing is care with the furniture rather than speed alone. A homeowner who hired them in June 2026 said they protected the furniture and took their time making sure everything moved efficiently. That echoes across the ratings distribution: 92% of the 398 Thumbtack reviews are five stars. Two things are worth raising on the call. The company states a three-hour minimum charge on any job and asks customers not to book unless they are willing to pay it, so a single-item move still costs three hours. Angi also notes they do not offer free estimates, and about 3% of those Thumbtack ratings are one star. The age of the business is reported inconsistently — Thumbtack says nine years, Angi and Porch both say eleven — which is worth nothing more than a shrug, but ask if it matters to you. They are the right call for a local residential move where the furniture is awkward: motorized bed frames, sofas up stairs, a piano. Confirm the three-hour minimum and what it covers when you get the quote, and be clear about stairs and distance up front, since those drive the price.

All 3 men were very professional, knew exactly how to disassemble a few pieces of my motorized king bed frame, gilded it in half, used straps to lift it off the floor & move it from my 3 season porch to my downstairs bedroom. They also moved 2 other furniture cabinets from my 3 season porch down to my garage. They worked quickly & efficiently. Other companies (I hired another company to move the bed frame, etc in to the 3 season porch before starting renovations). They did not even try to remove a few parts of the frame so they could fold it, just picked it up, ended dropping it & scraping it across the kitchen floor, leaving a long gouge. Lucky for them, that's the one floor I was replacing. And the price difference was huge! I paid less than half to move it back into my house. These guys get an A+++

found R&I Moving and Home care via Thumbtack when I needed to find a local mover to help move a kitchen dining set I purchased from Facebook Marketplace. The sellers needed it out of the house by the weekend because they were in the process of moving out of state. R&I Moving was very responsive and had the best price compared to other quotes I got for the same task. They were able to accommodate the quick turnaround, and were on time. I appreciated how thoughtful they were in measuring the doorways to find the best way to get the furniture into the house. I would absolutely use them again. Overall, I highly recommend their services!
