Two of the six people who rated Rain and Shine wrote at length about their jobs. Both gave one star. The company is a one-employee LLC at 955 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge, incorporated in October 2023 under owner Sean Boyne and filed with the BBB as a mason contractor. Its listed work spans brick, block and stonework, foundation waterproofing and drainage, gutters and roofing — an unusually wide range for a business this size and this new. On Angi it sits at 3.7 from six ratings, which HomeAdvisor republishes word for word rather than adding anything of its own. Four of those six are five stars, and all four are a line or two long. The two one-stars carry nearly all the detail, and the more recent of them describes a $60,000 roofing job from March 2026 where the quote tripled once the roof was opened: a shingle came loose after the first storm, the extension over the front bay window leaked where new shingles met the house, a gutter was left detached with a piece in a neighbour's yard, and the working chimney that vents the furnace was left clogged with bricks, trash and a safety vest, needing a plumber to clear it. That same customer said the crew worked hard, the job went fast, and the cleanup was good. An earlier one-star, from 2025, is a comparably detailed complaint about foundation waterproofing, and it appears on both the BBB profile and Angi — one customer, two platforms, not two independent accounts. The credential is the thing to settle before anything else. BuildZoom reports that as of 18 July 2026 the Massachusetts registration numbered 212343 for this business was revoked, and that the same number was at one point cancelled with Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation; that is a directory reporting the registry, not our own verification, and it is exactly the sort of thing to check yourself. The BBB profile is worth reading carefully too: the A+ grade sits on a page that says plainly the business is not BBB accredited, and BBB attributes the grade to length of time operating for a company incorporated in October 2023 whose BBB file was opened in December 2025. If you are considering them, ask for the current registration number and look it up with the Commonwealth yourself, get the scope and price in writing before work starts given the escalation one customer describes, and ask for references on the specific trade you need — the masonry and drainage praise and the roofing complaints are not about the same work.
