Ralda's General Service works out of Chelsea and is run by Mynor Ralda. Angi and HomeAdvisor both show 4.7 from 19 ratings. Worth knowing up front: the company describes itself as specialising in janitorial and cleaning services, with interior and exterior painting, carpet and floor cleaning and post-construction clean-up alongside it — so painting is one line of a cleaning-led business rather than the whole of it. On painting, the positive accounts are consistent about speed and estimating. A January 2022 landlord had a quote, start and finish inside one week on a two-bedroom apartment prepped and painted throughout, hired the same crew to clean the fridge, stove, bathroom and cabinets, and noted they spotted the stove hood vent needed painting and did that too. A July 2021 customer with 13-foot ceilings, extensive floor and ceiling moldings, pocket doors, large window frames and radiators said the owner explained who would do the work and how, and handed over a detailed cost sheet broken out by section of the project. Several reviewers in 2021 and 2022 describe quotes arriving when promised and crews turning up when promised. The serious caveat is one October 2021 review, the only detailed criticism on file, and it is severe. The reviewer said most of the work started failing within six months. Bathroom paint went streaky and runny because flat paint was used rather than the paint she had supplied in the original cans. A newly installed bathroom floor began squeaking, grout near the tub cracked and wore away, a new faucet leaked under the sink and needed emergency repair with correctly fitting piping, a new toilet had to be recalibrated, a second faucet later leaked and stained a granite countertop, and a sink repainted with waterproof shellac began peeling. Her conclusion was that although the crew worked hard, many of them were not trained professionals in the trades they were performing. That account matters more than its single-review weight suggests, because the short positive reviews describe how jobs looked at handover while this one describes how they held up half a year later. A May 2022 four-star reviewer, while satisfied on value, is the newest account on file — nothing here describes the last four years. If you are considering them, the cleaning and straightforward repaint work is where the record is strongest. For anything involving plumbing, tile or a bathroom, ask specifically who performs each trade and what licence they hold, get the paint sheen written into the contract, and agree a six-month check-back.
THEY ARE ON TIME, THEY ARE EXCELLENT
Good value for the price. Mynor was effective in communicating on time and completion of the project. He was easy to work with and was willing to work with me when parameters of the project changed. I hired him for interior painting, carpet cleaning and some other minor carpentry work. His quote was not the cheapest nor was it the most expensive. I believe it was good value for the cost.
Very responsive, viewed job, provided quote and was able to begin and complete job within 1 week. Prepped and painted entire 2 BR apartment. It looks terrific. They also provide cleaning services and hired them to clean fridge, stove, bathroom, cabinets, etc. They even noticed the stove hood vent needed painting and did a nice job with that. Unit looks great and ready for new tenant. Will call them again for my next painting or cleaning job. And recommend them to others.
Unfortunately, though the work appeared to be done correctly, less than 6 months later most of the projects the team completed started to fail... I sadly discovered that though the crew were (overall) hard workers many of the crew werent certified professionals in their areas of expertise. IE- PAINTING Though the crew painted my entire house, many were not professionally trained painters, I trusted their expertise to know what paint would best fit my houses needs. However, though Mynor and his team were given the exact paint (even the paint cans) the walls had previously been painted with, this paint proved to be flat paint (which was not what I had given them/asked for) and though I previously never had streaking of paint in the bathroom due to moisture, the new paint in the bathrooms is now streaked and runny looking in less than a 1/2 years time. BATHROOM REMODEL (CONTRACTORS and PLUMBER) The new bathroom floor that was installed began to squeak a few months later. Also some of the grout (near the tub) began to crack/wear away. The new bathroom faucet began leaking underneath the sink (needed to have an emergency repair with properly fitting pieces/piping installed). If I hadnt discovered the leak, it would have been a water disaster. The new toilets flushing system had to be recalibrated since the toilet wasnt flushing properly and the bowl would not refill and be empty. If that werent enough, just this week, I discovered the right bathroom faucet is now leaking and water is now staining the granite countertop. (Another person will need to be hired to fix this problem.) from improper installation and the sink (which had been repainted with a special shellac waterproof paint) is now peeling and chipping. (It looks awful.) I a civil service professional who works hard for my money and extensively saved for these renovations/updates. I am distraught as I vetted and interviewed with this company because of the guarantee of quality work...
The crew was excellent. Hard working, friendly, and professional.
