An electrical panel that started to sizzle and spark was replaced the very next morning — that April 2024 Google review is typical of the quick turnarounds customers describe at Ray Brown Electric, a Stratford, Connecticut electrician with 4.9 stars from 326 ratings on Google. A November 2024 reviewer called it a long-established family business, now run by Chris Brown, and the company lists a service area from Stratford and Fairfield to Newtown and Shelton. Chris does the estimates, by the customers' accounts, and crews named Orion, Don, Dom, Tony, Mike and Andre do the work. In October 2026, Chris and Tony put recessed lighting into plaster ceilings without adding cracks. A December 2024 customer needed an EV charger on a pedestal, with trenching; Chris inspected within days and recommended a landscaper for the trench. A January 2025 customer had attic lights, a generator back feed with a safety feature and a ceiling fan installed in a day, and Chris came back to resolve a generator issue. In April 2025, a customer who called late on a Friday about an urgent light had Orion there the next morning. Not every visit worked out. In a 1-star December 2024 review, blinking track lighting was not fixed. An April 2024 customer said they were charged over $200+ for an electrician who couldn't solve the problem. In a 3-star 2023 review, a technician could not find why the dryer cut power to the whole house, and the customer hired another electrician who found a faulty main breaker. A 2022 customer called $137.00 for a GFI outlet price gouging, and a 2024 review reads "Good people if you can afford them." Ray Brown Electric holds an active Connecticut electrician licence, ELC.0186337-E1. BBB grades it A+.
Chris and Tony did a fabulous job on my recessed lighting. We have plaster ceilings and they did a great job not leaving anymore cracks than we started with :) Cleaned up, polite and on time. Would definitely use them again!
Chris and his team are very professional. They go above and beyond with their customer service plus following through with punctuality, cleanliness and his expertise. Very pleased. Thank you
We had a small misunderstanding with a service that was provided, but the owner was very understanding and resolved it promptly.
Always on time. Always professional. Always quality work.
Spoke to Chris late in the day on a Friday about a light we needed urgently installed in our home. He said no problem and sent Orion the next morning. Orion arrived on time and was quick, professional and very knowledgeable. Will definitely be using them again for additional electrical work we need!
