ReVision Energy is a solar installer based in Westfield, MA. On its website it calls itself New England's leading employee-owned solar installer, offers solar, battery storage and heat pumps, and says it has 20 years in business. In 2023 ReVision Energy acquired Sunbug Solar, a solar installer based in Woburn and Westfield, Mass. A recent customer says they have chosen the company 4 times for 2 solar projects and 2 mini split projects, and calls its communication prompt and thorough. In a 2020 review of SunBug, a customer wrote about talking through options for solar and heat pumps without pressure, and said that when you hire SunBug you get a kind and polite crew who "will leave your home and yard clean." Another recent customer says the inverter on a solar and battery system SunBug installed in 2023 failed and took almost 6 weeks to fix, that the battery was then not connected correctly, and that it took almost 6 more months to fix the battery. In a 2025 review, a customer wrote that a replacement inverter was covered under warranty but the visit to switch it out was a flat rate of $450, and that their battery showed "no communication" for over a month.
“Westfield-based ReVision Energy has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading solar installers, earning a spot in Solar Power World’s 2026 Top Solar Installers rankings.”
“ReVision Energy, an employee-owned solar company headquartered in South Portland, has acquired Sunbug Solar, a solar installer based in Woburn and Westfield, Mass.”
I can’t say enough good things about this company. They are fair in pricing, they are great at what they do. The communication is always prompt and thorough. They help make the loan process easier with their communication. Couldn’t be more pleased O choose them - and have 4 times now for for 2 solar projects and 2 mini split projects. Great team!
I would caution anyone in western MA against using Revision. There are great, very accountable local companies such as Valley Solar and Northeast Solar, and I wish we had used one of them. Revision bought out Sunbug, which installed our solar and battery in 2023. Less than 2 years later, the inverter failed and Revision took almost 6 weeks to fix it. When the technician finally fixed the inverter, he did not connect it to the battery correctly, so we had no backup battery power (unknowingly, until a power outage made us aware of it 2 months later). It took Revision another almost 6 months to fix the battery. Now we have a high pitched noise coming from the inverter and they are not willing to waive the service charge to investigate the issue, despite it occurring soon after they came out here to fix the battery. Please do yourself a favor and use a more responsive, responsible, and knowledgeable company.
I hate to write this, but I feel the need to let people know that this company is very unresponsive and I question how well they truly understand their products. We have a series of solar panels and a battery back up system that we purchased in 2022, which was installed by SunBug (now Revision Energy)all went well with that. A couple of months ago, we discovered that our inverter had randomly stopped working. When I called I was told that it was still under warranty and that they would replace it- I would not be charged for the replacement inverter. However, the cost for the guy to come and switch it out was a “flat rate” of $450. After that was done, they didn’t make any updates to my online system to indicate that was working. I wasn’t getting an accurate reading online because the system (although working) was trying to communicate with the old inverter. When I asked them to correct the issue it took several days despite the fact that it was a simple fix on their end which they did without having to come back to my house. NOW, when checking my system online, I see that my battery has been in the state of “no communication” for over a month! The first time I called, they confirmed the status on their end and assured me that someone would be in touch to fix it- this was weeks ago. I have called a few more times since then with the assurance that they are aware of the problem and will address it. To date this still has not happened AND we lost power the other day and had no back up. This battery cost a fortune to install and we are still paying on it and it doesn’t even work. I cannot get anyone to schedule an appointment to fix the problem despite being told that they’re “on it”. Based on my experience, I would very much avoid doing business with this company.
My wife and I responded to the solar upgrade MA has been offering. We had responses from as far away as Chicago. All acted like desperate stereo typical car salesman, one even dressed that way. We found SunBug through CET, we wanted local and trust CET. SunBug was professional, allowed my typical personal involvement, and very important to me, everything done, even the unseen sundries are pleasing to the eye, IE nothing was done or left good-enough. Even our local bear was pleased with the results.
I never expected to really like the consultants, but SunBug has amazing employees and workers. From start to finish, I was able to talk about many different options for solar and heat pumps in our home without feeling pressure or frustration with the process. They fully informed us about rebates and other important incentives, walked us through how to acquire financing, and we present during construction. While I have nothing against typical construction crews, when you hire SunBug, you're getting a kind and polite crew who will work tirelessly to be out of your way during installation (heat pumps inside, solar outside, electrical construction in the basement) and will leave your home and yard clean- as if they were never there. At the end of the day we installed enough Solar on our roof to power our home, new air-source heat pumps, and an electric car. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. Choose SunBug! You won't regret it. *Covid note: They wore masks the whole time and we extremely conscious of being sanitary during the pandemic. We installed our systems in September 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, and felt very safe!
