In May 2026 Louie and his 2-man installation crew extended a floor another installer had laid, buying boxes from a matching dye lot and doing the install in one day. After they left, the customer noticed the stair nose color was off; Louie worked with the supplier, discovered a mis-ship, got the correct stair nose and sent his crew back to relay part of the floor. That customer wrote that it took some time but was done correctly, cleanup included. River's Edge Home Center is at 100 Bridge Rd in Haddam. Its website calls it a general contractor, designer and home center in one, covering new construction, additions, kitchens, baths and flooring, and says it has been in business 12 years. Connecticut's registry shows home improvement contractor registration HIC.0644536 active, held by River's Edge Home Center. It holds 4.9 stars from 115 Google ratings. In October 2026 a customer had new tile flooring installed in their kitchen and new dining room space, starting with Rebecca in the showroom, and thanked Louis and his team. In August 2026 another customer had their living room and stairs carpeted. In December 2025 a customer had new carpet in by Christmas morning, installed by Louie and his team. In November 2025 a customer had carpets replaced with vinyl click-lock flooring in the living room, foyer, hallway and guest bedroom, where the floors were not level and a 3-inch step between rooms was a trip hazard; the installers worked to address the problem areas. In a July 2025 review, a customer wrote that they took on old-style planking with antique nails sticking up from the floor, countersunk them all, then sanded, stained and finished the floors with three coats of clear polyurethane, all in three days. In December 2025 a customer wrote that the team removed old carpet and tile and restored the original hardwood without replacing any of it, with Louie Jr. matching the shade they asked for. In a December 2023 review, a customer described flooring replaced through a kitchen, half bath and entryway after a previous owner's DIY radiant floor heat had to be diagnosed and removed. Together with a plumber and electrician, who the reviewer said were all in the family, they fixed the dipping subfloor, added a toe kick heater and installed glue-on vinyl tile with new baseboard and door trim over a week. That customer also wrote that their only fault was timeliness. In March 2024 a customer wrote that the store forgot a quote appointment because the form was under a pile of papers, and weeks after the visit no quote had come. Another March 2024 reviewer wrote that nobody called back and that prices were exorbitantly high compared to other quotes. A third, getting quotes to restore a shower floor that month, wrote that the price kept changing and that the owner of the store swore and yelled at them at their home.
““The delays hurt everyone but we pulled through it,” said Lou Milardo, who owns River’s Edge Home Center in Haddam.”
We recently had new flooring installed by River's Edge--and what a great experience! Such a terrific group of professionals: from the first contact with Rebecca in the showroom, to choosing tiles, and then the entire measurement and install process. This included 2 rooms in our home, and they transformed our kitchen and new dining room space. Our thanks to Louis and his team...they were detailed, efficient, friendly and committed to getting things perfect. Every question was answered specifically and the work was done with care. We can't thank you enough!
Did an awesome job carpeting our living room and stairs. Every step of the process was smooth. Would definitely recommend to friends and family, will be using them again in the future for sure.
River's Edge Home Center gets my strongest recommendation. This is a family owned and operated business and all the different parts of renovation, from plumbing to carpentry to tiling to electric are managed by this fabulous team. The employees who are NOT family are treated like family, and this is important because they feel valued and as a result they work endlessly with superior skill. Every member of the crew who installed our new kitchen and shower was respectful and hard working. They cleaned up each and every day. When a situation arose and my husband needed surgery we put a request in to "finish up" our work and they completed everything to perfection. From sales to design to renovation, this business is a class act. They listen to you, pay attention to what you are thinking, honor old homes and masterfully work with both old and new homes--each with their own unique issues. We have an old home so nothing is "level" and River's Edge knew just what to do. When we had ideas that were NOT good, they educated us and gave us options. We followed their expertise and we're so happy we did! They also listen to your budget and present options so that you can choose the products and extensiveness of your project to fit the price you are comfortable with. There's no pressure with River's Edge...they really care about what you want and they guide you with advice by giving you options and information. River's Edge is essentially a business that matches the characteristics of the family and employees who work here--it's of integrity, excellence, responsiveness, and respect. I love this "team"--it seemed like true family when they were here each day working. I miss them, and no matter what project we decide to conquer in the future, River's Edge will be my only choice. We did a lot of research prior to contracting with River's Edge and they are not only the best, but the only company I can recommend. I'm so thankful for each and every member of the River's Edge team and commend them for superb communication, ethics, skill, workmanship, value, education, and service.
Louie and his 2 man installation crew were excellent to deal with. I was looking to extend an existing installation done by a different installer. He purchased several boxes that were a perfect match (dye lot) and his crew did the install in 1 day. I was included in how the stair nose ends would be finished, but after they left realized the color was off. Louie worked with the supplier, discovered a mis-ship, got in the correct stair nose and sent his crew back out to correct the install which required relaying part of the floor. The process took some time, but the job was done correctly, including clean up. I will phone them again on my next flooring project!
Great communication and my flooring came out great. Thank you!
