We own an old cape down the south shore that was in desperate need of new siding. Matt and his team exceeded expectations across the board. Matt started and finished the job exactly on the dates he committed to. He did an excellent job communicating and sending progress pictures every day. He was helpful when we needed to make decisions on things. Overall, on time, on budget and great communicator.

You may be reading this because hiring contractors to do work you know little about is a bit anxiety provoking and can result in some unpleasant results. Even though I have a background in engineering and construction, I moved forward with vinyl siding my home with some trepidation. My wife and I did some research and through a friend’s recommendation hired RJ Scalzi and Sons. The work scope included replacing fascia boards, rake boards, gutters, shutters and downspouts and installing vinyl siding. Jason and Matt showed up on time, and it very soon became clear that they were extremely skilled at their craft. Through every step of the project, they took measures to minimize inconveniencing us, including location of work vehicles and work benches, preventing damage to lawn, shrubs and trees, securing artwork on walls and shelves to prevent damage, communicating updates on schedule and timelines and maintaining a neat work area. Not only did it appear that Jason and Matt were talented, but it was also obvious that they have honed an extremely efficient team that executes work safely, quickly and with the highest quality. Two minor unexpected and out of work scope problems arose during the project that instead of dropping on my lap, as they rightfully could have, they took action and got resolved. Over the days Jason and Matt worked on our home, we were constantly impressed with the quality and efficiency of their work. A major plus was the professional, considerate and friendly demeanor both young men exhibited throughout the project. We enjoyed listening to their good natured banter, that didn’t slow them down one bit, and interacting with them. The completed project looks great and met all of our requirements, a neighbor even stopped by and asked for an estimate. Jason and Matt’s ability to combine high quality efficient work with very winning personal ways made the vinyl siding of our house a great experience and this may sound strange, but it was fun to have them around. Matt Amaru from R.J. Scalzi & Sons is a true craftsman. We chose him to reside our split-level house (CertainTeed Pacific Blue), and we couldn't be happier. The photos speak for themselves -- our midcentury house looks brand-new, and we've had multiple neighbors stop by to compliment the results. Matt was thorough and thoughtful from the start. He took time to explain the options, then gave a detailed estimate and broke down the costs for each line item. He also provided numerous examples of houses he'd worked on so we could go check out the work for ourselves. He was very responsive and communicative throughout the process, and gave regular updates about what to expect. His team was great, hardworking, and friendly. I was very excited the day they put up the signature fan detail over our dining room window (see second picture). We're an official part of the Scalzi portfolio now! As others have said, Matt goes the extra mile. He went out of his way to troubleshoot a roof drainage issue over our porch caused by less-than-stellar work performed by a previous contractor, and relocated a tricky downspout without hesitation when we asked. Matt and team also did an incredibly thorough job keeping the site clean, with Matt making extra visits to our house before snowstorms just to tidy up materials and tools. I really can't say enough good stuff about Matt in particular and R.J. Scalzi in general. I wish I had another house that needed re-siding just so I could watch the transformation happen all over again. We're going to miss having Matt and the guys around!

Matt (owner operator) and his crew (J & Brandon) were absolutely fantastic! The quality of the work and their work ethic was exceptional. Matt is the consummate professional. What he said he would do happened at a 110% level, and when he said it would happen was spot on. Never have I had a contractor respond so quickly to virtually all communications and have such flawless follow through. My experience with contractors historically is horrible. Matt is truly the exception. Our home is a late victorian and I had searched extensively for a pro that could maintain the character of the period of the home. No-one in this search even came close to the attention to detail that he actualized. Matt / RJ Scalzi & Sons did an extraordinary job recreating our home and we could not be happier! They have my strongest recommendation.
