A Dedham homeowner with a leaking roof wrote in June 2016 that Royal Contracting's crew was at the house within three hours of the call and had the vent-pipe fix done in about fifteen minutes — after a week of trying to get anyone else to return a call. That October another customer said the same crew traced a leak, explained what the shingles were doing and priced a repair on the spot. Royal Contracting works out of Dedham and takes both ends of the job list: a full bathroom or kitchen renovation on one hand, hanging doors and patching siding on the other. The company's site says owner Dermot McElligott renovated houses in Ireland before remodeling homes around Boston, and puts the business at 27 years. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, registered to Dermot McElligott, and its BBB profile is accredited with an A+ grade. On the bigger projects, customers get specific about money. An Angi reviewer in February 2025 said Royal's bathroom quote came in considerably below the three other contractors they had asked, and that Dermot was straightforward about pricing from the start. A December 2024 kitchen renovation in what the homeowner called an unconventional space landed right on budget. In a 2023 review a customer described an IPE deck and pergola with an intricate cable rail system delivered at the advertised cost, and in a 2022 account another watched carpenter Fabio swap a fir rear deck for Azek and reset cedar boards on the front porch. The short jobs are in there too. A HomeAdvisor customer in April 2025 had interior painting, wall plastering, doors hung and drapery rails fitted, and said the crew worked extra hours to finish before houseguests arrived. A Thumbtack reviewer that February had minor siding repairs done quickly. The platform averages run 4.7 on HomeAdvisor from 30 ratings, 4.9 on Thumbtack from 19, and 5.0 on both Angi and Porch. Neighbors have passed the name around Dedham's Nextdoor twice — once in May 2025, again in April 2026. One thing to settle on the phone: the reviews name two people. The website calls the business owner-operated by Dermot McElligott, while the 2016 and 2018 roof calls and several 2024 jobs credit the work to Matt. Ask who will run your job day to day and whose name goes on the contract. Royal Contracting suits a homeowner in Dedham or the towns just west of it who wants one number for a full remodel and the punch-list work afterward. Confirm the crew lead, and get price and schedule in writing before booking.

The job was done timely and well for a reasonable price. I'm very happy with the final result of my new 2-story exterior set of stairs.
Internal house painting wall plastering and general hanging doors mirrors and rails for drapes. They arrived on time. Worked extra hours to ensure completion of the bucket list as we had guests arriving. I plan to use the service in the future
Great to work with. Had some minor siding repairs done. Quick, responsive and knew what they were doing. Very professional.
We wanted to renovate our only bathroom and went with Royal Contracting after a lengthy process getting quotes. Their quote was considerably lower than the other 3 contractors we spoke to. From beginning to end, they were fantastic to work with. Dermot was transparent about pricing / schedule, and there were no surprises. They quickly set up a divider between the bathroom and kitchen so there was no dust and we could stay there when needed with no interruption. Fabio, who did most of the reno work, was a pleasure to deal with. He was always on time, got started early each day, and thoroughly cleaned. Outstanding attention to detail - he asked questions before moving ahead with anything to make sure it was done correctly. You can see in one of the photos that there is a tiny gap between the wall and door frame that he cut slivers of tile to fully cover - to me this is evidence of meticulous workmanship. The end result is exactly what we wanted, and we're so pleased.
Project was completed in a timely fashion at the agreed upon price.
