Every written account of RJT Carpentry and Tile stops in 2017 — and all thirteen of them are five stars. Houzz shows 5.0 from 12 ratings, Porch separately puts the company at 4.83 across 69 online ratings, and BuildZoom ties 14 permitted projects to the name with a score of 91. Ryaan Tuttle has run the company since 2005, per BBB's file, out of 900 Broadway in Revere, with a Boston address at 469 Sumner St on the Houzz and Porch profiles. It is small — BBB counts two employees — and the work customers describe fits that scale: tile, trim, decks, porches, additions and gut renovations rather than volume production. Tile is what people wrote about most precisely. In a 2015 review, a condo trustee described penny tile cut to fit a backsplash and said visitors still comment on it. Another 2015 customer credited a chair rail and wainscoting install, then hired the company again for a half bath, two closets and a staircase. In a 2016 review, a Nahant homeowner described a complete basement renovation and singled out Ryaan rescheduling the whole project when they pushed it a month at the last minute. Money and time run through those years as strongly as craft. A 2016 reviewer wrote that the job landed at the exact price and exact time promised; a 2015 condo association said a roof-leak repair came in on schedule and within budget, with subcontractors brought in and coordinated for them. The licensing is what to pin down before calling. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration numbered 190836 as active, while Houzz lists H.I.C. 154723 and C.S.L. 97387 for the same company, and BuildZoom shows a further home improvement number, 187606, as inactive. None of those were checked against the state registry. Houzz also lists OSHA 30 and Lead RRP certifications as its own record, and BBB's file shows a second location in Derry, New Hampshire alongside the Revere one. For a small tile-and-carpentry outfit with a long, unblemished, but nine-year-old paper trail, ask for jobs finished in the last year or two and phone those customers — then confirm the current registration number with the state yourself before signing.
RJT Carpentry & tile are true professionals in every sense of the word. As an Interior Designer in the Boston area, I've had the pleasure of collaborating with Ryaan and his team on several projects. They do a great job with customer service, attention to detail, strong communication skills, knowledgeable of building codes and scheduling. What I appreciate the most is the attention to craftsmanship, the honesty, integrity and positive attitude Ryaan and his team bring to each project.
Not only is Ryaan a master craftsman, but he also has the patience of Buddhist monk and the professionalism of a career diplomat! As someone who manages real estate for a living I've had more than my fair share of "bad" contractor experiences, so when it came time to renovate my home I was nervous. However, choosing Ryaan/RJT was one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. From the project's start to finish I feel I was in constant communication with Ryaan: he would check-in, follow-up, offer suggestions/etc, actions you would expect from your contractor but unfortunately rarely receive. While my project was not without its challenges, what renovation isn't, the way Ryaan seamlessly navigated those challenges was nothing short of perfection, and the work speaks for itself (it's beautiful). My only regret is that I did not start this renovation sooner with Ryaan/RJT, do not hesitate in using them, they simply are the best!
Wow! That sums up my experience with RJT. Ryaan and Tom did a complete basement renovation at my home in Nahant. I can tell you exactly what stood out about working with these guys. They are flexible - I pushed the project out a month at the last minute and Ryaan adjusted his schedule accordingly. Communication - Ryann responded to my calls and texts in a very timely manner throughout the project. He never left me hanging and always let me know what to expect every day along the way. Design Partnership - I had a lot of very custom design details that I wanted to incorporate. Ryaan would help me research them and present pros and cons as far as how they would affect timing, cost and functionality. Last, but not least, they are just all around good people who are committed to their clients happiness and satisfaction. Do not hesitate to hire these guys - they are the real deal and will deliver for you.
This is a very easy review - Ryaan & RJT did EXACTLY what they said they were going to do, at the exact price and exact time plus the quality of work is fantastic. That combination is so rare in the construction business today. I would recommend RJT for any job large or small.
RJT Carpentry and Tile was hired by my condo building (self-managed property with 4 units) to address issues stemming from a roof leak. Ryaan and his team were very helpful throughout the process - bringing in appropriate subcontractors and providing continuous updates throughout the process. The high-quality work was completed in a timely manner and within budget. The crew often worked while I was at home and were quiet and respectful, and always cleaned up afterwards. Definitely recommended.
