Roma Construction says it has been family owned and operated since 1955, when Pat Camputaro formed it in the New Haven area as an excavation and site contractor. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, number HIC.0553874, held by ROMA CONSTRUCTION CO, is expired on the state registry. In a 2025 review, a customer who hired the company for a 300-square-foot addition said it was expected to take three months and took a year. That 2025 customer said no official contract was provided and that a dispute at the end cost an extra $6,000, with items still unfinished. The same 2025 customer called the work quality quite nice. A local news site has reported that a worker was injured while working for Roma Construction Inc.
“Colin Koch, 21, was injured on Dec. 22, 2021, while working for Roma Construction Inc. At the time of the injury, Koch was preparing subgrade for an asphalt roadway at a housing development located at the Pleasant View Estates in Griswold when his left leg was pinned by an excavator operated by Anthony Gizio, an employee of American Industries Inc. of Jewett City.”
We regret hiring this contractor for our 300-square-foot addition. The experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. He never provided us with an official contract, which should have been a red flag from the start. He initially claimed the project would take three months, but it ended up taking a year to complete. During that time, he only worked a couple of days a week, and even on those days, the work rarely exceeded six hours, sometimes less. Communication was horrible. Whenever we had questions or concerns, he would get back to us, but often with vague or delayed responses. Toward the end of the project, he started claiming that things we had previously agreed upon were never in the plan, which ultimately cost us an extra $6,000—despite us not agreeing to the additional $10,000 he demanded. There are still unfinished items, but we decided to settle just to get rid of him and move on. His work quality is actually quite nice, but don’t expect good communication or timely completion. Overall, unprofessional, unreliable, and costly.
