Forty-three years of roofs on the South Shore, run out of Hatherly Road in Scituate. The BBB dates the business to 1983 and its incorporation to 2000, trading as R.B.D. Construction and Devlin Construction, with seven people and Paul Devlin as president — roofing plus siding, windows, doors and gutters. The written accounts are few, but specific. A homeowner writing in September 2025 said the new roof and the sheds were done, the crew was considerate of the property, and a year on there had been no problems at all. In a 2021 review another customer described shopping around, discovering that some of the local outfits were brokers rather than roofers, and going with Paul Devlin: a good price, the work done with little disruption, and the crew also repairing gutters and rotted boards on a 1770 antique house. One thing to settle before signing. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 106796, is recorded in the state registry as expired. Ask when it will be renewed and get the current number in writing. The ratings don't line up either — Google shows 4.2 from five ratings, while Porch aggregates eleven online reviews to 3.5. For a straightforward re-roof, or gutter and trim work on an older South Shore house, both of the people who wrote at length were plainly satisfied and one of them came back to say so a year later. Confirm the registration status first, and ask for a couple of recent addresses you can drive past.
