Both the reviews and the permits lean the same way: EV charging stations, 200-amp service upgrades, panel relocations, and the kitchen, bath and basement rewiring that comes with a renovation. BuildZoom counts 48 permitted projects, 18 of them in the last three years, spread across Brookline, Boston, Jamaica Plain, Malden, Framingham and Randolph, with a typical permit around $4,900. The praise is specific. In April 2023 a customer found much of the house wiring disintegrating mid-job, and the extra work went in at the quoted price. Another that same month said Sedar suggested a charger position that minimised the wiring run, then replaced an outlet and adjusted floodlights at no charge. In October 2024 a customer described a new outdoor outlet caulked against water, finished inside an hour, with the invoice walked through line by line. Two things temper that. The company's single Google rating is one star, left in July 2023 by someone who says a Thumbtack appointment was missed with no call to explain — a different kind of failure from the workmanship, but a real one. And BuildZoom gives the business a score of zero for having no active licence on file, listing a Newton electrical contractor licence last verified with a July 2022 expiry alongside an inactive state home improvement contractor registration. One smaller note: a June 2021 customer who was otherwise pleased mentioned the old coaxial cable was left behind after the new run went in. He is the call for a charger, a panel or a renovation rewire. Before booking, ask for the current licence number and check it yourself against the Massachusetts registry, and confirm the appointment the day before.
