SF CONSTRUCTION & MASONRY

I agreed to hire this company and gave a deposit of $2500, wrote the check for SF construction, but I spoke with Gerard and they want to change the name on the check and i saw that Michael Joyce was the owner so I spoke with him and he authorized changing the name and I put Gerard Maughan.I spoke with gerard last monday confirm that they will come today at 8:00am but they did not show up and no one has called me to give some update. I tried to call them but they are not responding.

SF Construction and Masonry (Jerry) - aka SF Built Construction - was to repair concrete steps. The job went very wrong. Frankenstein job - horrible swirls/clumping. Nothing like pictures of "their other jobs". Zero cleanup. Concrete all over railings and yard. Knew temps would be 20 degrees said it would be fine. But ask any professional. Two months on cracking and hollow sounding, no adhere. Stairs are wavy and uneven from 6 to 8 inches. Puddling of water. Written SOW said there would be metal mesh and a rubberized layer. Neither happened. They wrote a 30 year warranty which I now know is silly for a concrete patch job - disingenuous. They insisted on payment that night - I now know why - and it became difficult/impossible to reach Jerry. After skipping a planned meeting, Jerry has gone totally quiet. No replies to calls or texts. All he did was frame in an area for cement to be poured. I have not seen the provider since March 11, 2023.

had hired S.F. Construction to repair my driveway and to repoint four front steps as well as to fix the side hand rails. We agreed to the full cost at $4000. They asked for an advance of $2500 which I paid by a personal check ( number 1087) drawn on my bank ( Bank of America) on 3/28/23. The work was to start in five days . When I did not hear from the contractor I called his email and he said they do not have the right material and would need to wait for a week or so . After a week passed by I called again , twice, and no one answered the phone. I left two voice messages. The firm has a phone number ( 617-224-6030) but the number does not work ! I did send two email messages to [email protected] but have not received any reply . That is when I started worrying whether the work will ever be done .Show

The work done around my house and the back yard look a mess and not finished. The concrete is falling apart on some places around the house. The stones used on my front yard move they are not cemented in right, and there are two different stones used around the walk way. The job is poorly done and very messy. No attention to details. My back concrete is three different colors and my patio is stained with concrete all over. My retainer wall is not completely patched in, and not filled with dirt. The bricks used look a mess now that the concrete is dried out. I have called multiple times and left text messages to the contractor no answer. The phone number is no longer working. I want to take legal action.
