Slim's Painting is a Malden interior-painting business run by owner Joe Mullen, who — according to the company's own site — also covers Melrose, Winchester, Wakefield, Stoneham and Medford. The name that shows up over and over in its reviews isn't the business, it's Joe himself, working alongside a crew customers know by name. Forty-seven reviews spread across seven platforms all land on the same five-star average — 5.0 on Google from 42 ratings, matched on Thumbtack (64), Angi and HomeAdvisor (12 each) — and nine of those reviews have come in just the last six months, none negative. One recent customer, writing in July 2026, said they had called a dozen painters and Joe was the only one who replied, then delivered exactly what he had quoted. Others describe the details that make a repaint hold up: taping edges cleanly, covering furniture before starting, priming before cutting in trim around a bay window, and in one 2025 job, matching an existing painted china cabinet's finish exactly. The range of jobs is mostly what you'd expect from a small painting outfit — ceilings, trim, accent walls, a full-condo refresh, a 2025 limewash finish for a customer wanting a lived-in look — plus occasional plaster and drywall patching before the paint goes on. One thing worth asking about: the website describes Slim's as a one-person operation, but several 2024 reviews describe Joe working with a second painter, Ryan, so it's worth confirming who's actually on your job for a bigger scope. This is a solid call for an interior repaint where careful prep and someone who actually answers the phone matter — trim work, a tricky color match, a full room or condo refresh. Confirm crew size and timeline for the size of your job before booking.

Excellent, quick, professional and high quality painting.
Joe was a pleasure to do business with, professional, prompt and efficient. He and his crew were meticulous. Their painting is second to none. I would use their services again and recommend them to others.
I called a dozen painters. No one replied but Slim's Painting. Explain in detail everything he was going to do. How long and the steps he would be taking. The contract was the same as when he spoke to me. I was so happy about how the project went in my home that call a few months later abd and I hired him to do my rental. Amazing work, professional and cleans up. I will definitely call him again in the future.
Joe did a phenomenal job with our home wall and ceiling repair/painting. He knew immediately how to take care of our issue. He was professional, prompt, and transparent throughout the whole process. He is responsive and easy to reach. He was motivated to do the finest job. Strongly recommend.
