Smart Green Solar sold and installed residential solar panels, and the Rhode Island Attorney General's office has announced a lawsuit against Smart Green Solar, LLC and its CEO, Jasjit Gotra, under the Rhode Island Deceptive Trade Practice Act. The office later announced a motion to amend and supplement that complaint. A turnto10.com report states that Smart Green Solar, the company that installed one customer's panels, has shut down. A 2025 Google reviewer said the company put panels on the house in 2024 and they were still not active, and that nobody answers or calls. A 2024 Reddit commenter said the system was verbally quoted at 120% of their electrical usage but the one installed covered only 58%. Another 2024 Reddit poster said fewer panels were installed than promised and that it took almost a whole year to get them running. A 2024 Reddit commenter said their Smart Green backup failed, it took five days for the company to reply, and the reply was that it could be fixed in two weeks. A 2023 Reddit commenter said that after being told they would be put on a no-contact list, the company kept texting and calling. A 2025 Nextdoor poster in Pawtucket said Sunfinity picked up the pieces after Smart Green installed their panels. A recent Reddit post in r/RhodeIsland describes being trapped in limbo with the panels.

I am not one to post reviews, I don't have time for that. But this is an exception to the rule. Because this company is the worst solar panel company on the market. If you want to put solar panels please do not do it with smart green solar. We made a contract a year ago, they came to put the panels on my house in March 2024 and this is the time and they are not active. They paused our credit because they do not work and because of that my credit has dropped. Nobody answers, nobody calls. This company is a total failure.
Be aware of this company. I signed up for installation of solar panels.
Maybe they were a good company. I have been trying to reach them for weeks.
It has been a nightmare since the start. Misleading in home sales pitch, panels not working but we had no way of knowing because the app wasn't working either.
