Two fencing companies had already turned the job down — the yard sloped too much — and materials from a previous installer were sitting on site. Nick Smith took it, and the customer who wrote that up this summer said he did what he promised and finished quickly. Smith Bopp Fence Installation works out of 2 Carpenter Terrace in Uxbridge, and its Houzz page maps a service area running across the Blackstone Valley into Woonsocket and North Smithfield. The BBB file describes a sole proprietorship owned by Nicholas Smith that began trading in March 2010 and carries an A+ grade, though the same page is explicit that the business is not BBB accredited. The work is fencing and gates end to end: vinyl, wood, chain link, aluminum and ornamental steel, plus pool fencing, dog runs, gate repair and even mailbox posts. What comes through the recent write-ups is a one-man-plus-crew operation that answers the phone. Customers this summer describe Nick returning voicemails and texts, arriving when he said he would, quoting a hilly yard the same evening he walked it, and coming back at the end of one job to check the line was straight and add extra supports. One first-time homeowner shopped several fencing companies and found Smith Bopp the cheapest of them, then wrote at length about the five-foot black chain link fence that went in. Another customer is on their second project with the company. A few things are worth pinning down before you call. The licence picture on BuildZoom argues with itself: one record on the page says a licence is not required in Massachusetts, another lists home improvement contractor registration #208147 as inactive and at one point cancelled, and the page's own footer text then calls that same number active. Massachusetts exempts fencing-only work from home improvement contractor registration in the first place, so none of that is necessarily a problem — but it is worth a direct question, and the state's own registry is the place to settle it. The BuildZoom score of 95 on that page comes from permit history, not from customers; BuildZoom and Houzz both carry no reviews at all. The review trail is also narrower than the star counts suggest — five of HomeAdvisor's six are labelled as copies of the company's Google reviews, all collected in the same month. The bodies are long, distinct and consistent, which reads as genuine, but it is one stream of opinion rather than several. The right call for a residential fence or gate in the Uxbridge–Worcester corridor, particularly on difficult ground. Ask about licensing and get the quote in writing.

[HomeAdvisor labels this a syndicated "Google Review"] I've used Smith Bopp twice now. What I'd say about them is you get more than you pay for. Nick is one of those contractors that responds to voicemails, and text messages, shows up when he says he will, and does what he says he's going to do. His prices seem more than appropriate and the quality of their product and installation service is very very, good. Two thumbs up and 5-stars for Smith Bopp. I highly recommend them. ~Mark

[HomeAdvisor labels this a syndicated "Google Review"] My husband and I are first time homeowners. We shopped around and got quotes from fencing companies, and Smith Bopp was by far the most reasonably priced. Nick came by same day contacting his company and gave us a quote the same night he came to see our yard. He gave us a good plan for what worked for our budget. Smith Bopp did an absolutely beautiful job with our 5 foot black chain link fence. This company is so responsive, amazing with communication, and truly the best fence company. We are so glad we chose Smith Bopp. The fence is beautiful. They worked with our hilly yard with a lot of obstacles, and absolutely perfected it. Will never use another fencing company and will be recommending this company to anyone in our lives looking for a fence. Absolutely speechless with how incredible this company is.

[HomeAdvisor labels this a syndicated "Google Review"] Nick and his team did an exceptional job creating a safe and sturdy fence to surround our home. From the start, he was communicative, professional, and clearly a pro when it came to his knowledge of fencing. He was flexible with our budget and maintained consistent updates throughout the process. Even at the end of the project, Nick came back to make sure everything was straight, even, and added more supports to keep the fence lasting for many years to come! I could not recommend anyone with more confidence!

[HomeAdvisor labels this a syndicated "Google Review"] Nick and his team installed our fence last fall, and they were fantastic to work with. We already had materials on site due to issues with a previous installer, and two other companies had declined the job because of our sloped yard. Nick, however, was incredibly accommodating. He followed through on everything he promised, communicated promptly, and completed the installation quickly. I highly recommend him!
