Eighteen Google reviews, all five stars, and every one of them written since May 2025 — that is the whole public record on South Shore Decks Corp, a deck builder working out of 551 Plain Street in Marshfield. Homeowners hire it for new decks, deck repairs, screened porches, three-season rooms, railings, patios and pergolas across Plymouth and Norfolk counties, the service area the company lists for itself. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 214876, checks out as active against the state registry and is held in the company's own name. The Better Business Bureau has accredited the business since March 2025 and grades it A, listing the same registration with a February 2027 expiry, three employees, and no complaints or government actions on file. What reviewers keep returning to is Reggie, the person they deal with. A homeowner writing this summer described a hazardous deck that needed immediate attention: he asked for photos, saw the problem, and the crew came out right away and secured the whole deck "in no time and at a reasonable rate". In July a customer whose second-story footings and posts had settled said he fixed the structural problem, relocated the stairs for easier patio access, and recommended ways to prevent it recurring. Another, writing in April, watched a full deck replacement finish "in the dead of winter in a hair over one week". Design help comes up as often as the carpentry. Reviewers credit him with the permitting and engineering side of a large elevated deck with outdoor kitchen and lighting, with walking a couple through options for a deck cover that ended as a solid roof with a fan, recessed heaters and lights, and — in an October 2025 review — with rebuilding a small second-level deck plus stairs and railing, replacing rotted back siding and hanging two exterior doors. Clearing the yard and driveway at the end of each day gets specific mention. Before booking, one thing is worth asking about directly. The company's website says it was established in 1986 and has been building decks in Marshfield for more than forty years, while its BBB profile records the business as started 13 June 2024, incorporated 12 July 2024, and two years in business; the customer record starts in May 2025 and matches the shorter timeline. Both can be true if a longtime builder incorporated recently — but ask whose forty years those are. Ownership is recorded differently too: BBB names Ouafae Mekrai as owner, while reviewers deal with, and one May 2025 reviewer names, "the owner, Reggie Newcomb". For a straightforward deck build, rebuild or structural repair on the South Shore, the licence is real, the reviews are recent, detailed and consistent, and the work described sits squarely in that lane. Ask for the corporate history and for references on a job comparable to yours.
We had an incredibly positive experience with Reggie and the fabulous crew at South Shore Decks. We wanted to elevate our outdoor space from a small brick patio perched on an unsightly hill to a large deck with staircase, overhead patio lights, outdoor kitchen and space for a large dining table, lounge area, fire pit table, and high top table. Reggie had great ideas for design improvements, knew the ins and outs of permitting and engineering specs, and executed the job above and beyond our expectations. Communication was excellent and the crew worked meticulously. We love our new outdoor space and know it will add so much to the enjoyment of our home for years to come.
I called Reggie who responded immediately, I had a hazardous situation with my deck that needed immediate attention. He asked if i could send pictures, and he saw that it was a major concern. They came by right away which was a huge relief for me. Reggie and his men were so kind and professional. They secured my entire deck in no time and at a reasonable rate. The whole experience of working with them was a pleasant one. I appreciate his quick response and my sturdy and safe deck! I would definitely recommend this company. Thank you guys so much!!!
Reggie and his team at South Shore Decks Corp did a great job repairing and modifying our deck. After several years, the footings and posts on our second story deck had settled causing the stairs to shift. In addition to that repair, we wanted to relocate the stairs for easier access to our patio and improve the overall aesthetic of the area under our deck. Reggie assessed the issues and offered suggestions to fix the structural issues we had called about, but also recommended solutions to prevent future problems. He gave us multiple aesthetic options as well. In addition to the structural fixes, we chose to open up the view, trim out the posts in PVC and build a small storage space under the re-secured stairs. Beginning work a few days later, the entire crew were professional, respectful, and took pride in their workmanship. Now everything is rock solid, and we can enjoy a great new outdoor space. We highly recommend South Shore Decks!
Reggie and his team are fantastic. They screened in an existing porch at my house. It came out perfect. It changed the whole vibe of our home. Thanks again South Shore Deck Corp.
