Sixty-five written reviews since 2021, and not one of them sits below five stars. What those reviews actually describe is narrower and more useful than the number: doors, stairs, trim and built-ins, handled by a small crew that keeps telling homeowners exactly where their project stands. The name that repeats is Ricky — Rick Schneider, as one 2026 customer wrote it, after a neighbor's recommendation turned into a storm door installed within a week. Mike appears in account after account, with Kevin, Nate and Chris turning up alongside him. Recent work runs from a small garage door converted into a proper entryway with the paint matched so it reads as original, to a mantel lowered and rebuilt with a television above the fireplace and cabinetry flanking both sides, to a 1,000-square-foot basement finished as a playroom for a family that had just downsized from Connecticut. The carpentry gets ambitious. In March 2026 a couple described their 1886 farmhouse kitchen being taken back to structure — floor joists raised to level the floor, the ceiling lifted to nine feet — with daily updates through the whole run. That same month another homeowner detailed a fireplace built out to twelve feet high and seven wide with mantle, columns, molding and hearth, plus wainscoting and a chair rail in the dining room. Two themes carry through the years. The first is communication: a daily log customers can message through, weekly Friday emails, progress photos. The second is that the price holds. One 2025 customer said the quote for a bathroom tile floor and a basement door never changed; a 2024 homeowner reported the estimate stayed accurate even after sill rot turned up mid-job, costing a single day of schedule. In a 2025 account, a screened-porch project ran into a town zoning problem and Ricky went before the zoning board himself to present the plans and win the variance. One thing to weigh honestly: the written history is uniformly positive, five stars top to bottom, with no critical account to set against it. The reviews themselves are varied and specific — named crew members, itemized work, distinct projects across five years — but a homeowner reading them has nothing negative to test the praise against. Their Better Business Bureau file carries an A- grade, and Google shows a 5.0 average from 73 ratings. This is the crew for finish carpentry and room-by-room work on older houses: built-ins, staircases, doors, porches and basements, where matching existing character matters more than volume. For a larger structural remodel or addition, confirm the home improvement contractor registration and insurance with the state before signing.
Ricky and his team changed our small garage door into a regular entryway and matched the paint up to look like it has always been there. They did great work and were all very friendly. The communication for the project was great as well. Highly recommend!
Hands down the BEST experience working with Cranland! Our mantel was extremely high and we wanted it lowered plus the tv above the fireplace and build ins on each side. I had taken a picture of my living room and leveraged AI to create what I was looking to have done. Ricky was able to take it and then write up a very detailed plan with specs to make it a reality. Communication was the best I’ve experienced. I always knew what was being worked on ahead of the onsite project, when people were showing up, the days in which items would be done. Nate, Kev, and Mike were amazing as well taking into every detail and customizing to my vision. The attention to detail they all have is truly like no other. DJ the electrician and his team were also great in making sure they took into account what I had wanted for the tv and sound bar install and made sure alignment was true. Overall, if you want a job done right, you want great communication, attention to detail, and overall just great people to work with, look no further!
We had a very positive experience with Ricky and the carpentry work that was done. The work was completed professionally, with good attention to detail, and everything turned out great. Communication was easy throughout the project, and the area was kept neat and organized. We’re very happy with the final result and would definitely recommend Cranland Carpentry. Thanks Ricky!!
We recently moved from our Connecticut home of 39 years to MA to be close to our children and grandchildren. We downsize our home to one level from a five bedroom colonial in Connecticut, so we knew we wanted to finish off our basement @ 1,000 sq ft. for a play area for our six grandchildren. Unlike Connecticut, where we had a personal finish Carpenter that would do all our work. We had to search out to find someone that we felt comfortable with and did outstanding work Our son had finished off a mudroom at his house in the South-Shore area and the team from Cranland Carpentry, Inc. did the work. Ricky and his team quality workmanship was outstanding, and they built a custom seat with shelves underneath. I wasn’t sure if they would finish off a basement in Plymouth, but I asked them if they would be interested, and if so provide a quote. The quote was very competitive with the three other companies that I asked to quote. I hired Cranland Carpentry Inc. to handle the finish carpentry for my basement remodel. They helped with all the design work and did all the building permits. They made my life a lot easier, and the results are honestly transformative. Bringing a vision for a basement to life requires a specific eye for detail, and the craftsmanship delivered here was top-tier. The trim work, doors, closet and molding are outstanding. We had a few awkward structural columns and they designed custom casings and built-in shelves in another area. • Professionalism: Beyond the woodworking skills, the job site was kept remarkably clean. For a project of this scale, I appreciated the clear communication regarding timelines and material choices. Cranland Carpentry team were always the same guys, very professional, courteous and a pleasant to have in our home. This is something very hard to measure, but I think it’s very important to most people. You want people in your home that you can trust. If you are looking for a carpenter who treats finish work like an art form rather than just a checklist, I cannot recommend Cranland Carpentry highly enough. Our basement finally feels like a cohesive, high-end part of our home. Thanks and good luck with your project. Ed & Sue G
I needed a new storm door install at my house and was unable to find a carpenter to do the job. A neighbor suggested I call Ricky Schneider as she was pleased with his workmanship. I sent him a text and not only did he say he would be glad to help, but it was all completed within a week. Ricky was kind, helpful, prompt and professional in making this happen. I highly recommend Ricky Schneider and Cranland Carpentry for a job big or small. I will definitely hire him again for future carpentry jobs.
