Pull into 253 South Franklin Street in Holbrook and you are in somebody's driveway: the shop is the garage beside the house, and customers regularly drive straight past it. What happens after you park is why people write about it. You hand over a bent screen and more often than not you wait for it. Fifteen minutes for a screen door. Ten for a torn window screen. An hour for a slider a windstorm had shredded. Bill, who runs the place, has lifted an Andersen slider out of the back of a customer's SUV himself. The repairs hold up. A customer in June 2026 brought in an old Andersen screen with a bent frame and small holes and had it back looking new a quarter of an hour later. In May 2025 someone dropped off nine screens and a window that had fogged between the panes on a Monday morning and collected the lot on Tuesday. In July 2024 he re-screened a set of Low-E windows with solar screen after their reflection started damaging a neighbour's vinyl siding, and finished it in a day. Price comes up almost as often as speed: a customer in February 2023 was quoted $25 to $30 for large windows and doors and $10 for small ones, and reasonable is still the word being used in 2026. Where it has gone wrong is away from the garage. Three people in 2023 — in July, twice over, and again in November — said they had booked an on-site visit or an estimate, nobody came, and their calls and texts afterwards went unanswered. In October 2021 a customer said he was charged $500 for roughly forty minutes spent cleaning the track and adjusting the wheels on a sliding glass door, and that when he objected the owner told him to lose his number and hung up. The one recent complaint is a May 2026 screened-porch job: the homeowner had wanted only the damaged panels replaced, agreed to do all of them on the owner's recommendation, and was unhappy with how it went. For a screen — a door, a window, a porch panel, a slider with worn wheels — this is a drop-off shop that will usually have it finished before you have run the rest of your errands, and it charges like a repair rather than a replacement. If you need someone to come to the house instead, pin the appointment down, get a price before the work starts, and expect to chase it.
