In a 2024 review, a customer said the Spark crew got a Tesla wall charger installed before the Tesla had even arrived. That 2024 customer wrote that they dug into the ground in December and ran a higher-voltage wire from the house to the garage. In the same 2024 review, the customer said they added on to the existing panel in the house, while the older panel in the garage needed an upgrade to handle the load. That 2024 customer also said they asked about any plants to save before they started digging. Spark describes itself on its website as a full-service efficiency contractor for electrical systems, lighting, solar and more, and lists 12 years in business. A pressherald.com article names Fred Horch as a co-founder of Spark Applied Efficiency, a South Portland energy services contractor. In a 2024 review, a person who works next to a building the company was working on said its ladder fell in the wind in their parking lot and nearly hit their car, and a worker joked that they should have set it up properly. A 2023 reviewer said one of its white service vans was going 90+ mph north on I-95.
Typical your area range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Spark Applied Efficiency. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.
Estimated range
$530 – $1,100
Typical electrical project around $820
““It’s kind of a tough sell,” says Pat Coon, co-founder of Spark Applied Efficiency, based in South Portland.”
“The ideas for the pathway project sprang from discussions Swardlick had last year with Fred Horch, co-founder of Spark Applied Efficiency, a South Portland energy services contractor.”
this company is doing work on the building next to my work. they setup in our parking lot and their ladder fell in the wind and it nearly hit my car. when i went out to help them get the ladder, the kid working for them said something to the effect of “i guess we should have set the ladder up properly! haha” i didn’t really think that was funny.
The Spark crew were all great and they were able to get a Tesla wall charger installed before I even received the Tesla. Because of a delayed start to the winter, they were still able to dig into the ground in December and run a higher voltage wire from the house to the garage. They added on to the existing panel in the house, but we did need to upgrade the older panel in the garage to handle the load. Everyone was personable and pleasant and I especially appreciated how they asked about any plants I wanted to save before they started digging into the ground. I really love being able to charge my EV so conveniently overnight at home. Great job and many thanks!
One of their white service vans was blasting north on i95 90+ mph. Can’t be a good company allowing that behavior. 8A490 plate
