Steve Caragian Remodeling works out of Hudson, taking on decks, bathroom fixtures, additions and general home-improvement jobs rather than one narrow trade. Houzz says the business traces back to 1988, when Caragian, a self-described third-generation carpenter, struck out on his own; BBB's own file, though, only goes back to 2010 — worth knowing the two sources don't fully agree on how long this run has lasted. The written record is thin, just two Google reviews on file three years apart, but each is detailed. In 2023, a homeowner described Caragian managing a full Trex deck build start to finish: tearing out the old one, ordering materials, coordinating the pile-and-footing contractor, and finishing the job to a standard they called impressive enough to hire him again. A more recent review, from April 2026, tells a rougher story: he let himself into the home unannounced while six dogs were present, then went weeks without a callback on a quoted tub-and-shower installation. Before booking, it's worth confirming two things. The state registry lists his Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #108671, as expired, and BuildZoom shows an older construction supervisor license and a second HIC number under his name that are also inactive. And given the recent review, it's fair to ask directly how quickly you'll hear back after an estimate and what the check-in looks like once work is scheduled. This fits a homeowner with a defined outdoor or remodeling project who wants one person running subcontractors end to end — get a firm timeline and confirm license status before signing anything.
I was referred to Steve by my plumber to complete some work for the installation of a new tub/shower. He showed up timely, but let himself into my home unannounced. We had 6 dogs here who obviously went crazy at the sight of a complete stranger standing inside the house. He looked at the job on 4/11/2026 and took some measurements. It is now 4/23/2026 and still have not heard back from Steve. I even called a week ago and left a voicemail which was never returned. I do NOT recommend this business.
Hired Steve to install a Trex deck. Gave solid advice and handled everything from existing tear down, materials, coordinating with the pile/footing contractor, to finish work. Looks amazing and won't hesitate to use them again.
