Stone Builders Masonry

Front steps, patios, and stone walls are among the jobs homeowners describe hiring Stone Builders Masonry to build or replace. The Princeton company identifies Rick Longbottom as its owner and a master stone mason with more than 30 years of experience. Its website says it serves Worcester and nearby towns, offers residential and commercial masonry, and provides free estimates. A July 2026 customer described front-stair replacement by Rick and his assistant. Rick helped select materials and develop a reasonable budget, removed overgrown shrubs and vegetation, and left the site neat and clean. The customer said the project was completed as agreed. In April 2026, another reviewer described three patio spaces built by Rick and Eric, praising their communication about plans and timing as well as the cleanup. An August 2026 customer said Rick worked with them to achieve what they wanted and paid attention to each stone and detail. Google showed a 4.7-star average from 26 ratings in August 2026. One customer described a different outcome in a May 2024 Google review. They said the middle step was uneven and slanted downward, that differences in step heights created an accident risk, and that a worker’s mortar repair after their review did not solve the problem. The customer also disputed the explanation that the slope was needed for water runoff and said the contractor refused to correct it. Those are the customer’s allegations about that installation. Other older customers described masonry designed to fit existing features. A June 2024 reviewer said Rick replaced deteriorated concrete steps with fieldstone-faced stairs to match an existing fieldstone wall and chose walkway bricks to suit the house’s color. A July 2024 customer described removal of blacktop and installation of a paver patio, praising on-time completion and cleanup. Another reviewer that month described a walkway, patio, and granite garden stairs. In a June 2023 review, a homeowner described replacement of failing retaining masonry and cement stoops, plus an additional retaining wall to level the front yard. They said Rick helped develop the plan and that the team completed the work within the quoted price range. An October 2023 customer described two years of projects: front steps, two walkways, a retaining wall, and cobblestone edging around garden beds.
