Stone walls, patios and pools are the work people hired Stone Design by Mimmo for. On its BBB page the business describes itself as specializing in masonry and landscape design, and its Houzz profile says it has been creating outdoor living environments for over 20 years. A 2025 customer said they used owner Mimmo Caratozzolo and his team of masons for a pool patio and a large Belgian block and gravel driveway, and that both projects "turned out beautiful." A 2025 reviewer wrote that Mimmo designed and built a stone wall on their property, collaborated on a fence and driveway gate on top of it, and did the stonework and apron at the driveway entrance. A 2025 customer described under-step lights integrated into their project and said the team also installed the veneer around their pool. A 2025 customer said they were in and out in a few days, as promised. A 2015 customer described a job of about six months that included a new or expanded deck, a 2,000 sq ft stone patio, an outdoor fireplace, a free-form gunite 45,000-gallon pool and a raised spa with a waterfall. A 2015 reviewer wrote that Mimmo and his crew worked at their house for nearly a year on a pool, patios, stone walls and a stone veneer. A 2016 customer said Mimmo hand-delivered the quote for their stone patio and finished the project on budget and on time. Google shows 4.6 stars from 10 ratings and Houzz shows 5.0 stars from 8. A 2025 customer gave one star, saying it took constant texts to get the company to start and finish their projects, and that one project was not done properly in the summer of 2024 and was still not complete in 2025. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0667273, held by Stone Design by Mimmo LLC, as expired.
We have had Mimmo for a couple of projects - biggest issue is getting them to actually start (constant text to get them to start) and then finish a project, one of which was not done properly in the summer of 2024 and still not complete in 2025, despite constant messages to them. I just don’t think it’s a well run operation. Either that or they only want to focus on larger projects and move on from previous ones if they don’t think worth their time to complete. Recently used another Norwalk based mason for work on our chimney - LN masonry - turned the project around in a few weeks perfectly. Showed up on time and professional - so many talented places out there would recommend over Mimmo.
Mimmo is terrific at his craft. He designed and built a gorgeous stone wall on our property and collaborated to build a beautiful fence on top of it as well as an opening gate to our driveway. He created beautiful stonework at the driveway entrance as well as a gorgeous apron. Highly recommend Mimmo for his incredible craftsmanship and execution.
The picture below is just one example of the incredible details in our project—such as the integrated under-step lights, which highlight not only the craftsmanship but also the creativity that Mimmo and his crew bring to their work. In addition to this, they also installed the veneer around our pool, and the results were absolutely amazing. Mimmo’s attention to detail is unmatched; he approaches every project as if he were designing his own, working closely with his customers to bring their vision to life. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and highly recommend Mimmo and his team!
