Stonecrest Builders' reviews pull in two directions. The Ridgefield general contractor shows 3.4 stars from 5 Google ratings and 3.7 from 3 on Houzz, and its four written reviews run from 2013 to 2025. The newest written review is a warning. In April 2025, a 1-star Google reviewer said the company may come in with a low estimate, but that work done directly by the contractor or his crew is "subpar at best," calling it work by "unskilled labor he picks up last minute," and that he fails to follow through on promises. An August 2024 Google review says only that the company was very responsive. The older Houzz reviews are warm. In January 2018, a customer said Joe Pisoni and his team turned a small cape into a 5,000 sq. ft. home on time and on budget about ten years earlier, with no settlement cracks or peeling paint nine years on, and recently finished a second small project. A January 2013 review from an architect who designed several renovations Stonecrest built calls Joe the owner and says he stays available through the whole process. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0572443, is active, held by Stonecrest Builders LLC.
Avoid at All Costs! Stonecrest Builders may come in with a low estimate, but it’s a classic case of you get what you pay for. While some of the subcontractors he hires might be decent, any work done directly by the contractor or his crew is subpar at best—often handled by unskilled labor he picks up last minute. He consistently fails to follow through on his promises, and corners are cut at every opportunity. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere—this contractor is not trustworthy.
Very responsive
Stonecrest took our small cape home ten years ago and transformed it into our 5,000 sq. ft. dream home. Joe Pisoni and his team of craftsman completed the renovation on time and on budget but even more than that, they created a home of great character and with exceptional quality. It has now been nine years and the picture attached is a testament to the fact that there is not one settlement crack or any sign of peeling paint or other deterioration in the home. This home was built with all the right materials, and with a level of care that leaves us loving it as much today as the day we moved back in. We recently has Stonecrest complete a second small project. Same story, on time with great quality and care. Joe takes the time to make sure all is done in the way you expect but at the same time gives great advice. Multiple times he has advised on small changes or finishes that have enhanced our vision. In some ways he goes beyond what even we expected to deliver an amazing level of quality. You generally only do a renovation once. This is the guy you want to use.
Stonecrest has been the general contractor on several renovation projects that I, as the architect, have designed. They have been extremely helpful from early budget estimates, through the bidding process, and most especially during construction. The owner Joe remains very available during the entire process, and sees a project through to the end. Given the complexity of a home renovation, Joe does a great job in making our clients - and me - very happy with the end result. I look forward to working with Stonecrest Builders again in the future.
