SunCommon is a Vermont solar and battery-storage installer, and a 2026 Google customer praises the product, the installation crew and the service. The company's website says it has helped over 10,000 customers in Vermont and New York with solar and energy storage for homes, businesses, farms and municipalities. A 2025 customer said SunCommon had installed 23 rooftop panels and two PowerWalls at their house seven years earlier, and in 2024 put 32 rooftop panels and two PowerWalls on their barn in two days of cold, snowy December weather. That 2025 customer also said a Public Utilities Commission snafu delayed the grid connection by two and a half months, and SunCommon fully reimbursed the lost power production. A 2024 customer described a solar canopy with battery backup that went in smoothly despite the underlying bedrock. A 2022 customer said the company handled the system design, arranged financing and reseeded the lawn after the project. A 2022 customer said that when an inverter stopped working four and a half years after installation, SunCommon worked with the manufacturer to replace it under warranty and the same technician came back to install it. A 2024 customer said it took weeks and many phone calls to get storm damage on a roof-mounted system fixed. On r/vermont in 2025, a commenter said SunCommon "failed to process ACH payments for like six months" and then warned of a balloon payment. In a February 2026 r/vermont comment, a poster wrote they "would use anyone except SunCommon," calling the company "way overpriced" and saying it does not honor its service.
“Op has a hair up their ass because they got a pretty shitty quote from Sun common for replacing the inverter.”
“SunCommon quoted $1900 for a Solis 6k inverter replacement. Plus labor, dispatch, monitoring thing, total was $2500. Pass.”
“Thanks - email out to SunCommon”
“Suncommon removed our panels and reinstalled them when we needed to replace our roof, so I’m sure they could do it.”
“We got the quote, $2500 to replace the inverter (quote from SunCommon who installed the system).”
Love everything about SunCommon - outstanding product, talented installation crew, excellent and responsive service. Impressed everyone there is so friendly and thoughtful. Strongly recommend!
Chaotic, missed appointments, long delays, suprises in pricing, instructions to demo areas of our house (that changed multiple times in emails), and long delays in connecting us to service. Once connected, saw no batteries online, I was brushed off by personnel online, and when I finally had enough, someone showed up at our home and found out the batteries were provisioned to the wrong account. That wasn't a good situation for us. We're happy we're through it. Proceed with caution, they don't have good organization with new owners.
We received highly professional service from SunCommon from the initial sales contact with Nick to the implementation overseen by Jake. They were flexible in dealing with our complicated schedule, were quick to respond to our queries, and delivered exactly what they promised. The installation crew were efficient, courteous and knowledgeable.
We purchased and had two Franklin storage batteries installed at our house. We did so to provide us with power for the house during power outages. The team at Sun Common did a great job with all aspects of the process.
I rarely leave a bad review for business however, this company truly is deserving! Years ago, I signed up for solar share program and also encouraged my parents to do the same. What a mistake! Their billing was always very hard to follow and I never really knew if I was getting what I was promised. I suppose I just trusted the company. Fast-forward to June of this year, they had a big billing issue and all of its customers got billed nearly $600 in one month because they had missed some automatic payments. Now clearly this is a big deal for some people as 600 is a lot! I was just frustrated so I canceled my account and so did my parents. They told me many people were canceling their accounts because of the poor customer service, especially considering we did not even get notices that this was going to happen. Now it’s October and I’m being charged by them again, for what? $144 after my account was canceled months ago! They had automatic payment on my account and always took whatever they needed! Do you think they would let me know? What an absolutely terrible company to do this to people! Do you think they could communicate or sending a bill or anything, nope! Highly recommend you stay away unless you want complete chaos with your billing, even on automatic withdrawal.. Not to mention them taking money out whenever they want!
