Lease costs drew warnings about Sunrun in Massachusetts Reddit discussions. In August 2025, a commenter who said they were buying a house with a Sunrun lease reported that the seller's heirs faced close to $30,000 to buy it out. A November 2024 commenter urged people to avoid Sunrun's power purchase agreements; another said they had had a terrible experience with the company. These were comments about Sunrun on r/massachusetts. Sunrun describes itself on HomeAdvisor as a residential solar and battery-storage provider established in 2007 and headquartered in San Francisco. The profile lists solar-panel sales and installation, along with electrical work for home additions and remodels and wiring or panel upgrades. A customer writing on HomeAdvisor in November 2023 described a different experience: they said getting solar went well, involved no money out of pocket and reduced their electric bill by 45%. They also reported a 5% increase in their home's value. HomeAdvisor displays a 5-star rating from one customer. In a November 2022 r/worcesterma thread, a commenter said they had put up Sunrun solar through Costco five years earlier and never had a problem. An August 2025 Reddit commenter also claimed that Connecticut's attorney general had filed a lawsuit against Sunrun and others the previous year.
