Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from T.A. Lawlor Construction. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

Tom Lawlor is the call homeowners around Westwood make after a storm. In a 2017 account a customer lost a section of Stockade fence in a blizzard and said he offered a post replacement at a reasonable price and worked around both their schedule and the weather; a 2016 customer had a picket fence repaired after severe weather; a 2018 reviewer said he stayed in touch through two storms and always returned calls. T.A. Lawlor Construction is owner-operated, and the company says it has spent nearly 40 years on Metropolitan Boston residential construction. Fencing is the core of it, but its own site and its Better Business Bureau listing also name gazebo repair, water dock repair and handyman work, and one 2016 customer had him build a wooden bulkhead for a cellar. Price comes up almost as often as the work. A 2016 reviewer said he split the project into two phases to fit a budget, a 2012 customer called his pricing fair and clearly itemized, and in 2021 a homeowner said he fixed a gate attached to the fence for free rather than leave it. Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 4.5 stars from 27 ratings, Thumbtack 4.4 from 10, and the BBB lists the business as accredited with an A+. One 2018 account is the exception: the customer said he underestimated the materials for a back fence, replaced one pole and left a quick fix on a second that also needed replacing. Get the post and materials count in writing, and settle up front what happens if the job turns out bigger than the estimate. Most of the written history here is old — the bulk of it 2012 to 2018, with the newest a 2024 five-star line — so ask for a couple of recent local references as well. For a homeowner who wants a fence repaired or replaced by the man who will actually be doing it, that long run of storm work is the reason to call.
Excellent
Excellent work and he cleaned up after the work was done
Tom went beyond what was expected. He fixed my gate that was attached to my fence. For free. I'm so glad i hired him because he did the extra work to make it right.
