Gardens rather than lawns: Talbots' Creative Gardening designs, plants and maintains residential gardens out of Cambridge, working with an organic land-care approach. The company says it has spent over 20 years designing and maintaining colorful landscapes from that Cambridge base, and names Jenny (Jennifer) Talbot as its principal. Its stated service area is Cambridge and the greater Boston area, and its Better Business Bureau page carries an A+ grade. This is the outfit to talk to if you want a garden designed and then kept up through the seasons, not a one-visit cleanup. Ask what the organic program covers month to month, how maintenance visits are scheduled and billed, and for a few Cambridge-area gardens they planted and still look after.
