The name that shows up again and again in Temp-Wise Heating & Cooling's reviews isn't a company — it's Brandon Starodub, the owner, who Thumbtack lists as about three years into running this one-person HVAC shop out of Marion, MA. Customers call him directly for oil burners, boilers, furnaces, and heat pumps, and he's the one who shows up. What keeps recurring is follow-through. In a review posted around the 2025 holidays, a customer described Brandon coming back the day after Christmas, around 9:30pm, to fix their furnace — after he'd already worked another job all day. Around the same time, a homeowner with an uncommon oil-burner and radiant-heat setup said he explained what he found rather than pushing for a bigger repair, and a late-2025 Thumbtack review described him returning quickly to sort out a couple of small issues — a hot-water line that got missed, a thermostat that failed — after a boiler replacement. Even the one review with a real hiccup, from early 2024, describes a boiler issue that came back after the first visit; the customer still recommends him because he came right back and made it right. The ratings tell two slightly different stories depending on where you look. Angi and HomeAdvisor each show a perfect 5.0 from the same six reviews, but Thumbtack's larger, independent pool of 29 ratings averages 4.4, with 14% landing at one star; none of the review text on file explains what went wrong there, so it's worth asking about directly. Thumbtack, Angi and HomeAdvisor each list a Massachusetts Oil Burner Technician License (BU-320981) for the business, with HomeAdvisor and Angi both noting it runs through July 2027 — that's the directories' own claim, not something verified against the state registry here. For oil-burner, boiler, and furnace repair, this is a business where the person who answers the phone is also the one doing the work — just ask about that one-star slice of the Thumbtack ratings, and confirm current pricing and scheduling before you book.

Fast, efficient and honest !
The technician was very personable and professional. He took the time to break down the estimate clearly and responded quickly to questions. When a small issue came up, he came back and handled it with no problem. Overall, a very positive experience.
Recommend Brandon. He came out to evaluate an old burnham boiler with a broken water exchanger for a repair and explained to me clearly why a repair wasn’t sensible and it should be replaced. He made ordering the equipment and paying the deposit easy. On the day of the install it was snowy and Icey and he rescheduled it for next day which I appreciated. Safety first. Had some small issues post install like hot water line forgot to be turned back on for another unit and he drove back quickly to fix it. Or thermostat went bad after install and he came back and fixed it. And so just a lot of positive data points on professionalism and the quality work. Feel confident if an issue came up in 2 months, he’d come back and handle it. Could say that about a lot of other folks. Great to encounter a real pro.
We had an issue with our hot water heater, and he was super responsive and gave us the fairest price.
Even though it was Christmas Eve Brandon came back to assess my furnace. He came back the day after Christmas around 930pm after doing another job all day and fixed my furnace. Very knowledgeable, pleasant and easy going. Not all techs would be willing to come back so late.
