Pro Heating and Cooling LLC, run out of Dedham by owner Sean Pike, is the crew people keep recommending for heat pump and mini-split conversions — even when they were hired as the actual installers behind another company's sale. A 2026 Reddit thread in r/massachusetts described exactly that: a homeowner in Ashland who contracted through Elephant Energy said the sales side was 'decent,' but the installers, Pro Heating and Cooling, 'were great' and worth recommending on their own. The Better Business Bureau, which rates the company A+, lists its work as heating and cooling installation and repair, ductless mini-splits, heat pumps, water heating and smart thermostats. That range shows up across the company's own review history. Sixty-five reviews since 2021 span Google, HomeAdvisor and other platforms, averaging 4.9 to 5.0 stars, and the last six months alone brought 14 more with nothing negative. The specifics repeat: Sean personally answers calls — one customer's heat failed on a night with a negative wind chill and he responded fast — walks homeowners through options and pricing up front, and his crews, often named individually (Rafael, Fernando, Maryellen in the office), handle everything from full ducted heat pump systems to floor-mount units and gas furnace swaps. Several reviewers who collected multiple competing quotes said Sean's was both clearer and more competitive, and more than one credited him with steering them through the Mass Save rebate paperwork. Two things are worth asking about directly. The company's Massachusetts HVAC/gas-fitting license, number 15186, came back expired when checked against the state registry — worth confirming its current status before signing anything, whatever a directory listing elsewhere shows. And in a 2021 review, a customer said Sean had assured them a roughly $2,500 Mass Save discount would apply to a Navien system installation, and it didn't come through as promised; it's the one specific complaint in an otherwise clean multi-year record. For a heat pump, mini-split or furnace job — especially one where Mass Save rebates are part of the plan — Pro Heating and Cooling has the reviews and the A+ Better Business Bureau grade behind it. Just get the current licensing status and any rebate figures confirmed in writing before the crew shows up.
“We had gas boiler/AC swapped out for heat pumps with mini splits downstairs (and kept our ductwork upstairs) in Ashland. Contractor was Elephant Energy (not local, decent sales folks). The actual installers were Pro Heating & Cooling and they were great. Would gladly recommend them. https://proheatma.com/contact-us/”
Sean was very responsive and explained all my options very well. His team did a great job on the install!
Sean and his team just finished installing heat pumps on our house. It's a bit early to evaluate how well the system works, but the experience of working with them was outstanding. The pricing was competitive and Sean's communication was outstanding for its promptness and clarity. The work was done on time as promised, and they left the house spotless. When it was time to commission the system, Raphael was terrific -- competent, friendly, answered questions readily and clearly, and patiently solved the inevitable problems as they arose. Highly recommend.
Great service and great crew - from the field guys to the front office. Very responsive. A couple small items needed attention once installed and they jumped right on it to get it right. Very happy with Pro Heating & Cooling.
Pro Heating and Cooling just completed a 3-zone mini split installation at my house. The owner, Sean Pike, is extremely communicative and professional. His crew was very polite, professional, and performed all the work in a timely manner. I took advantage of the Mass Save Program, and his office made the process seamless by handling everything efficiently. As someone who manages an exterior construction company specializing in commercial and high-end residential projects, I know what to look for when evaluating contractors. This company checks all the boxes you are looking for as a consumer/homeowner/building owner for complete customer satisfaction. I would recommend this company to anyone; family, friends, clients, etc.
We really appreciate Sean and his team for doing an amazing job with installing a heat pump. He gave us his best offer right away and it beat every other quote that we had received. I recommend Sean if you are looking for a honest, local and professional AC installer!
