A Boxford homeowner writing in August 2024 laid out the access problem first: two fence gates that just accommodated the crew's Bobcat, and a tight working area on the patio. The old bulkhead came out anyway — dug out, cut up, removed, and the space excavated for the new unit. The Bulkhead Man & Sons works out of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, and says it has been installing custom and pre-fabricated cellar doors across southern New Hampshire and northeastern Massachusetts since 2001. The jobs customers describe stay in that lane. In an August 2026 review, a homeowner on the New Hampshire seacoast had a new bulkhead installed earlier in the year, the connection between the bulkhead steps and the foundation reinforced, and a custom-sized cellar entry door and trim fitted into the basement. Another August 2026 review covers a replacement that took in concrete modification and repairs plus a new set of concrete stairs — "No more leaks and my stairs are safe to use." A March 2022 customer described a steel door with two locks, called the finishing work perfect, and said the owner and his helper explained everything as they went. It is a family operation by its own account: the company names Craig MacCorquodale as owner and president and Kelly MacCorquodale as owner and office manager, and reviewers credit Craig and Jenny by name — one August 2026 customer was fit in sooner than anticipated. A May 2024 reviewer put it as "like a family. One that you like and shows up!" BBB opened its file on the Mont Vernon business back in 2002. If the bulkhead leaks or the steps under it have given out, this is a specialist rather than a general remodeler — the door, the steps and the concrete around them are the work they are hired for. Worth pinning down before booking: how the painting and finish work on the new door are handled, and what access the crew needs for the machine on your property.
The Bulkhead Man & Sons installed a new bulkhead for me earlier this year in the seacoast NH area. They also reinforced the connection between the bulkhead steps and foundation and also installed a new custom-sized celler entry door / trim going into the basement. They did a fantastic job! And they were a joy to work with. I can't recommend them enough.
We had our bulkhead replaced which included concrete modification and repairs as well as the addition of concrete stairs. Jenny fit us in sooner than anticipated and Craig and his crew did a great job from start to finish. No more leaks and my stairs are safe to use. This job was done in April, but we wanted to paint it before posting pictures.
Craig, Jenny and their team just finished a bulkhead replacement for me in Boxford; access to site was challenging - two fence gates that just accommodated their Bobcat and a tight working area on my patio. Dug out, cut up and removed old unit, excavated space for new unit, put in, assembled, sealed and painted new one, all in two long days. Three-person team was expert, hard-working and very friendly, even to my four dogs. These people are the best!

This week, I had the installtion of a high quality steel door with two locks. They did a fantastic job. The finishing work is perfect. The owner and his helper explained everythig to me also. They are coming back to paint my bulkhead with high quality paint and put a gasket in when it gets warmer. I can notice the difference in temperature in my basement already. The support staff that contacts you is exceptional also. I highly recommend this company.
