When a roughly 30-year-old boiler developed a serious leak, one customer said Tyler Thomas, the owner of Thomas Northeast Mechanical, came out to assess it that same day, had a quote ready that evening and was back a week later to replace both the boiler and the hot water tank over two very long days. The company describes itself as a full-service HVAC/R business working throughout Vermont and New Hampshire with 24/7 emergency service, and its website lists a service area that runs from Walpole, Keene and Hinsdale to Brattleboro, Claremont and Lebanon. Its New Hampshire HVAC licence, MBE1500848, is active on the state registry, held by Thomas Mechanical, Inc. Urgent calls get answered. One customer found a significant basement leak at 6pm on a Wednesday; Tyler picked up the phone, was at the house within 20 minutes, made a trip to Home Depot and came back to replace what turned out to be a cracked drain pipe, for what the customer called a very reasonable price. A new client with a plumbing emergency on a Sunday afternoon said they were prompt and thorough. A customer who turned the wrong valve and started flooding the house through the radiators said he came out immediately, fixed it and also turned down their hot water. Tyler came out right away on a Saturday for one customer to connect a gas stove, check the LP conversion, look for leaks and test that it worked. Much of the work is on heating systems. Tyler did the annual maintenance on one customer's System 2000 oil furnace and installed a new oil line from the tank to the furnace, and that customer said his price for both was a bit lower than their oil company's. After an oil company failed the inspection on one customer's tank, he got them on his schedule within a couple of weeks and replaced the oil tank. He installed a new propane line for one customer's gas fireplace. One customer wrote that a boiler, radiant flooring and a gas line were installed. Mini splits and thermostats come into it too. Servicing one customer's mini splits, Tyler pointed out the pipe insulation, said he has seen pipes fail because of the material that insulation is made of, then cut all of it free and replaced it at no extra charge. A customer whose mini split he installed about two years earlier said he has since come by to check that everything is working. He replaced one customer's old thermostats with Bluetooth digital ones in the house and in a camper. A customer who had Tyler upgrade old thermostats to smart WiFi models praised the communication. In a really old house, one customer said Tyler was prompt with both the estimate and the installation, attended to every detail and cleaned up afterward.
Tyler was prompt, texted me quickly, and even offered to come out late in the evening! He came early the next morning, found the problem, had the parts in his truck, and fixed my water heater immediately. Professional all the way. Thank you Tyler!
Outstanding workmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail! After our approximately 30-year-old boiler developed a serious leak, I contacted several HVAC companies in the area. Tyler Thomas, owner of Thomas Northeast Mechanical, stood out from the very beginning, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to hire him. Tyler responded almost immediately and rearranged his schedule to come out and assess the situation that same day. He quickly determined that the boiler was likely beyond economical repair. He explained the options, including the possibility of repairing the existing system, and walked me through the pros, cons of each. His knowledge, honesty, and straightforward advice made it easy to reach an informed decision to replace both the boiler and hot water tank. Recognizing the severity of the leak and how quickly it could deteriorate, Tyler treated the situation with genuine urgency. Despite an already packed schedule, he promised to have a quote to me by the end of the day. And he delivered. Given that it was already late afternoon when he left, he spent part of his evening putting everything together. By that evening, we'd agreed on the work, and Tyler was already looking at an installation date just one week away. True to his word, Tyler arrived at 8 a.m. on October 6th, and over the course of two very long days, completely transformed our heating system. The first day involved removing the old equipment, installing the new boiler and tank, and completing the extensive new pipework. Tyler was determined to have all the piping finished before calling it a day, and didn't leave until well after 6 p.m. And this brings me to what I consider the most remarkable aspect of Tyler's work: **his extraordinary attention to detail and pride in his craftsmanship.** Tyler is clearly an exceptionally skilled tradesman, but I'd go a step further and call him an artist. The layout, precision, and sheer neatness of the new installation is remarkable. Every pipe appears thoughtfully routed, every component carefully positioned, and the finished result speaks volumes about the standards he sets for himself. I've attached before-and-after photographs because, quite frankly, they tell that part of the story better than words ever could. Throughout the entire process, Tyler was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Communication was excellent from the initial phone call through completion, and I always felt informed and confident that the work was in very capable hands. It's not often that you encounter someone who combines technical expertise, a genuine commitment to customer service, and such obvious pride in their work. I cannot recommend Tyler Thomas and Thomas Northeast Mechanical highly enough. If you're looking for someone who is knowledgeable, honest, responsive, and meticulous about the quality of their work, look no further. Thank you, Tyler, for turning what started as a rather stressful emergency into such a positive experience!
Hands down one of the best HVAC companies in southern New Hampshire. Very reliable and honest pricing
Tyler did the annual maintenance on my System 2000 oil furnace, and then also installed a new oil line from my tank to the furnace which I knew last season had to be done. He was prompt in scheduling, excellent with communication (so appreciated!), and thorough in his work. His pricing for both services was a bit lower than my oil company's and I believe he used better materials with the install than my oil company would have. He is courteous and professional, and patiently answered all of my questions in terms I could understand. Tyler is definitely my new go-to guy for all my heating system needs. I highly recommend Thomas Northeast Mechanical!
Tyler was very helpful finding and replacing a part for a very old heater and upfront with pricing. Would recommend him!
