Brad wanted to make sure I was pleased with the job and even tied in the "old style' nails I wanted to match the adjoining room. We are so happy we chose Thompson’s Flooring to refinish our antique pine and maple floors. They did excellent work in a very timely fashion, and for a reasonable price. Brad was easy to communicate with, and had a very direct, honest approach that we really appreciated. Can’t recommend them highly enough. Pictures worth 1000 words!

Brad is a true professional and class act. He came out to look at our floors and took the time to explain the trade offs and why refinishing wasn't the best move in our situation. Even knowing this meant there wouldn't be a job for him, Brad still spent significant time to walk me through the details, answered questions and shared his valuable expertise and insights. It was clear he genuinely cared about helping as his first priority. That kind of integrity and generosity is rare. It's been a bit since Brad did our floors (back in February). I meant to leave a review but kept forgetting. Finally got around to it, but that's how happy I was with his work, that I feel like he still deserves the review. He finished our wooden floors in a timely manner and filled in patches that were missing/damaged. The work was great, the price was fair, and Brad was a great person who really cares about his craft. Perhaps this team is best at installing floors in new homes or refinishing floors in existing homes. But in terms of installing new wide pine into an old farmhouse, they leave much to be desired. I’m a few months out from a completed installation, and I still get so frustrated when I walk thru my home and look at my new hardwood floors. First, my home is a 200 year old farmhouse. I’m fully aware it makes home improvement projects a hassle. There’s no such thing as a straight line. Every board needs measured twice before cutting. And as you can see from the photos, this team did not deliver. And when it came to more intricate cuts around doorways and fireplaces, the cuts were even worse. Haphazard. In fact, there’s one area around the fireplace where they didn’t even demo the old wood and just LEFT it in place?! Even though it was brought up to them multiple times. Quote the job higher because the work WILL take longer! Or requote the job mid-project because the working IS taking longer. Something other than this. Beyond that, the floor was finished in February. The smell of the poly finish was horrendous, and we couldn’t throw open windows all day and night to air the house out. And if we did, the home needed to be maintained at 68 degrees for the finish to cure. We were constantly airing the house out for an hour in the dead of winter, dropping it to 50, and reheating it to 68. My gas bill was $2,000 that month. I’ve since learned my previous floors were finished with water based finish, which took a weekend to cure and air out. Shouldn’t that have been the guidance this time of year? Or if poly is truly the best—wait until the spring to apply the finish? You’re the professional. Help me make the best decision that will allow me to be comfortable in my own home. Finally, there was damage to both our fireplaces that my partner fixed. And the crew left their trash around every time they were on site. I had to throw away their empty coffee cups and water bottles when they left. Honestly, I thought this was just me being nitpicky, so I tried to move on… but my current contractor commented on the lack of workmanship. He showed us the kind of measuring required to get everything straight and level in an old home. The new work is 1000x better than what was delivered here. I’m so disappointed.
