Total Grounds Landscape works out of Tilton, and the jobs people hire it for run from spring cleanups and hydroseeded lawns to patios, stone walkways and septic system replacements. Its website says it services central New Hampshire with residential and commercial landscape and snow maintenance. On Google it holds 4.6 stars from 95 ratings. A recent customer said the company added a privacy berm with trees and perennials, removed the old lawn and installed sod, coordinating with their irrigation company on the upgrades. A recent septic customer said Taylor came out to assess the job, the estimate arrived by email within a couple of days, and Peter and Dillon worked through 90 degree heat. A recent spring-cleanup customer said every leaf was cleared, the lawn dethatched and the mulch beds edged. A 2025 customer described a project of two-plus weeks with a retaining wall, a crushed stone and bluestone walkway, grading and replaced deck posts, with a few punch-list items addressed later. A 2025 customer at a nine-building condo association in Laconia said the company handled snow removal for a 170-space parking lot. A 2023 customer said Josh answered every phone call and email during a septic replacement and front-lawn job. A recent spring-cleanup customer said the crew came out while it was still raining, a ride-on leaf blower tore up the saturated lawn, and two more trips the customer had to request were needed to finish. A recent reviewer objected to leaf blowing next to windows at 7:00 am on a Saturday. In 2023, a customer said the company quoted $585 for a spring cleanup of a small lawn that was 90% covered by snow, after saying it would cancel their lawn cutting without spring and fall cleanups. A 2023 reviewer said it took until 7:24 PM after a day of snow for a plow to touch their parking lot.
We decided to change landscapers in the height of the busy Summer season. Our previous guy just wasn’t doing the job to what we expected. After many trips back and forth from Tilton to Laconia and passing by the Total Grounds building we were sold. Their landscaping on display at their office was just beautiful. We were also impressed by the looks and condition of their equipment. (Spotless) We hired them to do a landscape construction project that involved adding a privacy berm with trees and perennials, removal of substandard lawn and then sod installation. They were able to coordinate with our irrigation company to install the needed upgrades for the new plantings. Total Grounds has been the BEST contractor we’ve ever worked with for communication and follow up questions. They are super responsive and never leave you hanging with any of your concerns. They do amazing work and I can truly say I have the best looking yard on my street because of Total Grounds. I highly recommend them for your landscaping needs, they are the best in the business!
I hired Total Grounds Landscaping for a spring cleaning and unfortunately can't recommend them based on my experience. The appointment was rescheduled several times, and the crew ultimately came out the morning after a torrential rainstorm, while it was still raining. This alone was bizarre. I tried calling my account manager but they were impossible to get in touch with throughout this entire project. They used a large ride-on leaf blower on the saturated lawn, which tore up the grass in the process. In the course of the work, pine needles were blown all over the side of my house, outdoor furniture, and into my jacuzzi. They then up and left. The job wasn't finished on that visit. It took two additional trips, which I had to request myself, to reach a point they considered complete, and even then the work felt like the bare minimum rather than a thorough cleanup. The communication was the most frustrating part. I was never given a heads-up about when the crew would be arriving, and getting my account manager on the phone was a challenge from start to finish. Between the lawn damage, the cleanup that landed in places it shouldn't have, and the lack of follow-through, it was an overall disappointing experience.
They are the best
Couple of these dudes are living in elderly housing illegally, truck shows for pick up at 5:30 am, green hi vis vests, this is housing fraud
We had a smooth experience from start to finish having a septic system installed. 1. The owner called back promptly upon our initial call and was extremely professional. 2. They had Taylor come out promptly to assess the job and again was polite, courteous and helpful. 3. An estimate was emailed to us within a couple of days and the price was reasonable. 4. Owner followed up within a few days and was patient w/our desire to get all our quotes in before we decided. 5. I went to office to ask ?'s and get ball rolling and again nothing but straight up respect and professionalism. 6. Total Grounds managed to fit us in sooner than expected since they were in the area. 7. Taylor, Peter and Dillon completed job seamlessly, exceptionally and it was clear Dillon takes exceptional pride in his work with the excavation and installation of piping. 8. Peter and Dillon worked in 90 degree heat, but still did a meticulous job despite the heat. It was evident this company takes pride in their work, and it showed in the final outcome. They were communicative throughout the project, being patient answering my ?'s. Total Grounds was a breath of fresh air and would highly recommend them. The whole project went off w/o a hitch thank to their professionalism!
