Total Remodeling and Repair describes itself as a full-service home remodeling contractor handling interior upgrades and exterior work, and says it has been in business for 13 years. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor licence 175790 is active on the state registry, held by TOTAL REMODELING & REPAIR, LLC. A recent customer looking for a safer shower for their mother says Erin answered their questions and scheduled them for the same day. A recent customer says the installers kept the mess cleaned up before leaving every night and worked from 8 until 6. A recent customer says the company replaced their front door and the installation was smooth, but that getting the included kitchen drywall repair finished took repeated outreach to Scott. A 2025 customer said Nick showed them hidden damage from a bathtub leak behind the wall, and that both of their bathrooms were completely changed. A 2025 customer said the company installed a walk-in shower with a built-in seat and grab bars in place of their mother's tub. A 2025 customer said Total was the only one of three companies to offer a full gut and remodel, and that the crew finished in under five days. A 2025 customer said Sam inspected a roof that had been leaking on and off for a few years. A 2025 customer said Scott came out the next morning to look at broken gutters, and the work was done at the end of the week. A 2025 customer said the company installed a new sliding glass door. A recent customer says one item of the first of four projects was only partially completed a month after it was expected to be done, and later wrote that they had received notice the work was never properly permitted. A 2026 customer said a $15k bathroom job produced only a shower that was not done right. A 2025 customer said a $17k bathroom and laundry job came with no communication.
Total Remodeling replaced our front door and as part of the price were supposed to patch up some drywall in the kitchen. All the workmen were very competent, diligent, and left the work area very clean. The front door was expensive, but the installation was smooth and it works very well. The problem was with the drywall repair, which requires 3 visits. The first visit was timely. I had to reach out to Scott several times for the second visit, at the end of which was told it needed another coat. I made I don't even know how many outreach attempts to Scott over more than 6 months until I finally gave up. He did answer most of my messages and several times he replied that he would have someone stop by when their crew was in the area, give me a tentative day, and then never follow-up or have anyone stop by. We made the mistake of paying for the remainder of the job right after the door was installed but before the drywall repair was finished, so little incentive on their part. I understand that the company is in West Springfield MA and we are in the New Haven CT area and was willing to accommodate their schedule to coincide with when they were in my area, but at this point it's been a year since the door was installed and Scott did not respond to my most recent messages. I expected better from this company.
I was looking online for a company to do my mom’s bathroom since she’s older and needed a shower that would be easier and safer for her to use. I spoke with Erin on the phone and she was so helpful! She really listened to what I was looking for and answered my hundreds of my questions haha! She was even able to get us scheduled for the same day, which I really appreciated. So far, the experience has been great and I would definitely recommend this company!
— UPATE — Well past owner’s promise of contact within 48 hours (with no contact for remediation plan). See below for more. — UPDATE — We just received notice that the work that has been done was never properly permitted. — Original post: We recently contracted with this company for four projects totally up to 46k. A month after work on the first project was expected to be completed we have had one item partially completed leaving us with an exposed radiator running through our kitchen. We have had no call no shows with this company, promises of “we will call you back with a plan this afternoon” followed by weeks of call dodging and silence, and a maddening lack of response from any representative of this company. We have now also been served with our first finance bill for work not even started. Complete scam of a company and we are beginning to pursue legal actions. Beware and do not perform work with this company. — UPDATE — Owner responded Thursday that we would be contacted with a remediation plan in 48 hours. As of Tuesday the following week I have heard nothing. Well past 48 hours, even with the weekend thats beyond 2 business days. But its even worse, taking a closer look at the work what was done is sub par at best. They opened up a wall but the new frame that was put in: 1. Blocks our pantry from opening completely. 2. Is shoddy work: it does not match our other frame and it has gaps/uneven at the corners. See updated photos.
They were responsive to any questions or concerns I had before during and after install They communicated every step of the way from start date material drop off and removal. The installers were great as well. Very courteous and kept the mess cleaned up before leaving every night. The gentlemen that did the install worked long and hard started promptly at 8 and didn't leave until 6. I was impressed form beginning to end. Highly recommend them for any home remodeling needs. And absolutely LOVE the new siding!!! I also used Total Remodeling LLC for my house's windows, and again give them a 5 star review, Great people!!
I definitely do not recommend them; they are not professional at all. This is what they did to my bathroom, which cost 15k, and they only did a shower, and they didn't even do it right.I regret hiring them.
