United Home Experts of Rhode Island describes itself on Angi as a roofing, siding, windows, doors and painting company. Its website lists vinyl, cedar, fiber cement and Everlast composite siding, asphalt shingle, rubber and flat roofing, and gutters, and the company says it has been in business 28 years. A recent customer had two projects done: a door replacement with sill repair, which that customer said went fine, and trim repair with painting. That customer said the trim crews cut corners and seemed rushed, left over 50 nails in the driveway, and that the painters spilled and tracked paint across a composite deck. The same recent customer said it took over 3.5 months of reaching out before someone came to fix the paint job, and that the company offered a $200 credit for the stained deck. A recent customer called Brian from United Home Experts knowledgeable and professional. A 2021 customer said Scott met with them at least three times to answer questions on siding and gutter color, timing and extras, and said the home was the warmest it had been in 20 years. A 2020 customer said the crew worked in the cold weather to replace the roof and kept a clean work area. A 2020 customer said they ran into rotten sheathing, brought it to the customer's attention, and charged a reasonable upcharge for the change order; that customer said the site was a little messy but they came back a second time to clean without being asked. A 2020 customer praised Fernando's installation work but was not as satisfied with the company's support in addressing product issues in a timely manner. A 2020 customer thought the price was a little high but called the work and service excellent. A 2019 customer said the crews removed worn cedar siding and installed Everlast composite siding on one side of the home. That 2019 customer said the siding first installed was the wrong size and the correct siding arrived a full week later, that rotted sheathing pointed out in advance was covered over, and that a promised $300 price reduction had not been credited after two weeks. In a 2019 follow-up, the same customer said two project managers called, apologized and credited $550, and raised the rating from 3 to 5 stars. A 2017 customer said the company diagnosed why the roof was leaking, provided a detailed inspection report and repaired the problem.
Frustrating experience. We had two projects with UHE -- door replacement/sill repair and trim repair/paint. The door replacement and sill repair went fine. The crews that came to do the trim repair cut corners and seemed to be in a rush throughout. They also left over 50 nails scattered throughout the driveway and directly in front of the garage, a frustrating situation for driving in/out. The paint job was shoddy at best and then it took over 3.5 months of reaching out to UHE to finally get someone to come out and do their best at fixing the most egregious portions of the paint job, including actually painting over some sections to look like they weren't (incorrectly) painted in the first place. The initial painters also spilled and tracked paint across the deck, which was not able to be removed from the composite decking. UHE has offered us $200 credit for the stained deck. Better than the "Uh, sorry" we received for the nails but not near what it will cost to hire someone to dismantle and replace the stained boards.
