Village Plumber, the Johnston, Rhode Island drain cleaning and plumbing company that does business as Rooterman, gets called fast and argued with over the bill. It holds 4.2 stars from 87 ratings on Angi, and describes itself as having provided plumbing and drain cleaning around Rhode Island for over 40 years. Speed is what its satisfied customers describe. In an October 2019 Angi review, a customer with a sewer smell in the basement called at 7am and had a plumber there by 9 who diagnosed the issue and got the smell to go away. A February 2020 customer wrote that the company got back to them in 10 minutes and came back the same day to do the job. In September 2021, a customer whose sink was fixed said the crew noticed mold and set them up with a restoration company, and an August 2021 reviewer said costs were stated up front and spelled out on the receipt for their insurance company. An August 2019 review names plumbers Tim and Bill. The complaints are about price and results. A May 2021 customer felt $245.00 to snake a toilet in 2 minutes was too much and said the plumber did not wipe up the water he dropped. A March 2020 customer was quoted $890 for an emergency hydro jet, said the clog was cleared but called it very expensive, and a July 2020 reviewer wrote that a 5-minute hydrojet should have cost $300 to $600. In a September 2020 review, a customer said the problem was not fixed, the quoted amount was taken anyway and a call asking for a partial refund went unanswered. A July 2024 customer wrote that a shower drained for 375.00 was clogged again 2 weeks later and they could not reach the company. Its Rhode Island plumber license MP002380 is active, held by Christopher E Pineault.
They charged me 375.00 to drain my shower. Now 2 weeks later it is clogged again. CanΓ’ t seem to reach them
I want to thank Rooterman for doing an exceptional job fixing my clogged sink. They were very professional and they noticed that I had mold and immediately set me up with BTTR Restoration which was exceptional as well. I believe Rooterman saved me from having additional mold problems and if it were not for his recommendation I would not know where I would have been today. Thank you for your quick response, and for noticing a very bad problem which needed immediate attention. Thanks again. If you need a plumber call Rooterman, you will not be disappointed.
My problem was neglected for decades by previous owners and required significant effort to diagnose and repair. All costs were clearly stated up front and spelled out on the receipt for submission to my insurance company. A drain problem is a total hassle to deal with. This professional crew was on time, pleasant, knowledgeable and didn't leave the place a mess. I would hire them again.
Maybe IΓ’ m wrong but I feel that $245.00 to push a snake down the toilet which took all of 2 minutes is way to much. He spent more time writing up the invoice than doing the job. He didnΓ’ t even wipe up the water he dropped on my floor when pulling the snake out. Then I asked if he could replace the toilet base seal, he said it would be $150.00 for that. I said no thanks. Recommendation HELL
