Nearly 125 years the family name has been on trucks in Brookline: W.L. Steeves has been an electrical contractor since 1902, according to its Better Business Bureau file, which also names Robert R. Tremble as president and licensed master electrician Michael O'Leary as vice president — a small shop, five employees, serving residential and light-commercial customers around Brookline. Recent Google reviews describe on-time, professional visits — a 2025 review calls the finish “professional, courteous and on time,” and a 2024 review describes Peter and Charlie installing a Ring camera and fixtures and diagnosing electrical issues at a reasonable cost. Going back further, in a 2021 review a Brookline landlord who has used the crew for over a decade across 45 rental units described them as consistently on time with “top-notch work” and no tenant complaints. That same year, though, another customer described a job left unfinished — ceiling tiles never put back, a promised return visit forgotten, and four calls over two days met with “I did not schedule you” before they gave up and called someone else. Worth confirming directly: the state's electrician licence registry lists license #10429 as expired, under the name Matthew R. Tremble — not the Robert R. Tremble that BBB names as the company's president and license holder for that same number. Ask who on the crew currently holds an active Massachusetts electrician's license before signing a contract. For small residential jobs — fixture installs, troubleshooting, smart-home add-ons like a Ring camera — recent reviews suggest a reliable crew; for anything bigger, get current license and scheduling details in writing given the mixed record on follow-through.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from W.L. Steeves Electric LLC. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

A job well done! Very professional, courteous and on time finish.
Good guys professional and they’re doing great work
Peter and Charlie have come to my house to assist with my electrical issues. Installed Ring Camera on side of house, installed electrical fixtures, diagnosed electrical issues and fixed everything. Reasonable cost wise also would highly recommend 👍👍
