Kuhlman Electric is a Lynn-based electrical contractor with a large, named roster of technicians — Ervis Bushi, Anthony Priego, Justin Kerrigan, Matt Kilroy, Jesse Loder, Cody Martin, and dozens more show up by name across hundreds of Google reviews — and a reputation built on harder, older-home work: knob-and-tube removal, whole-house rewiring, and original BX wiring replacement in homes built in the 1930s. Reviewers describe a company set up to communicate and to catch problems other providers missed. Master electrician Ervis Bushi's full review of one home's power needs came back with a quote thousands less than a prior provider had proposed. On an EV-charger install, the company absorbed the cost difference when the actual scope turned out larger than the original quote rather than passing it on. Another review said the crew replaced all the original 1930s BX wiring throughout the entire house. The work spans EV charger installs, whole-home rewiring and knob-and-tube removal, panel and circuit-box upgrades with surge protection, and smaller jobs like fixture swaps, smoke-detector replacement, and outdoor GFCI troubleshooting — several reviewers say they've used the company repeatedly over multiple years. On Reddit, a Medford-area homeowner reported going with Kuhlman after a good prior experience despite it running a little higher on price. The complaints are a smaller, more mixed thread. A March 2026 review described a wiring-update job where the crew punched an unusual number of holes, left debris behind, and mislabeled switches in the breaker box in a way the homeowner didn't discover for a year. In a February 2026 review, a customer said the company had refused a service call months earlier, then called back later looking for the business — the reviewer declined. Two December 2025 reviews cited poor communication that led to incomplete or wrong work on one job, and a doubled service-call price for Boston-area calls on another. Given the size and multi-crew structure of the operation, an individual job's outcome appears to depend on which technician is assigned. Google's listings put the aggregate between 4.9 and 5 stars across several hundred ratings, and Houzz shows 5 stars from 9 ratings, broadly in line with the written record.
“Kuhlman Electric. They did a good job.”
“Electrician Does anyone have experience with a good electrician, who's licensed and bonded? We're looking to do some upgrades on an old house. We're looking for an 80/20 sort of company. Our biggest requirement is quality but they don't have to be perfect. They should be reasonably priced. I know that good work costs money but if the quote comes in 2x of everyone else I'd want to know what we're getting for that extra money. Update: We ended up going with Kuhlman Electric. We've worked with them before and they did a great job. They're a little higher on the price end but they managed to ”
Justin K. did a great job or evaluating the issues we were having, providing a clear explanation as to how to resolve with estimate and completed the work in a timely and professional manner. All around great experience
I am so thankful for the electrical work that Matt Kilroy and Jake Sampson did in my daughter’s home for Kuhlman Electric. Both were professional, efficient workers, and easy to speak & work with. I am so glad that all the old, unsafe wiring and the Knob & Tube is removed from the home.
Jesse and Jose were awesome - 10/10 would hire again, fast + on time + easy install
We had Kuhlman Electric come to our home to install two chandeliers. Jesse Loder was the lead electrician and Jose, his assistant. We can't say enough about Jesse and Jose and Kuhlman Electric. It was quite a complicated job due to the age of our home. Both electricians were so knowledgable and efficient. Jesse, as the lead electrician explained everything that needed to be done, our options, and gave wonderful advice. They were professional, polite, and cleaned up immaculately. After having this exceptional experience with Kuhlman Electric, I would never trust any other electric company. I hope the next time I need Kuhlman Electric, I can request Jesse Loder as our lead electrician. Thank you so much Jesse and Kuhlman Electric.
Jesse and Jose were great! Fan looks great and minimal disruption to the area. They took great care of the surrounding tile. Thank you!
