Wright Builders, Inc. describes itself on Houzz as committed to high-performance, sustainable and zero net energy ready construction. A 2023 local news article reported that Seth Lawrence-Slavas had acquired the company from its founder, Jonathan Wright. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is expired on the state registry. A recent customer, 2,400 miles away for most of the build, says the project manager sent photos and live videos; the finished house has triple-pane windows, walls about a foot thick and roof solar panels that generate a little more power than the household uses. A local news site reported that Seth Lawrence-Slavas and architect Bruce Coldham chose to remove a section of a structure, install a proper footing and rebuild it on the same footprint. A 2025 customer wrote that the company replaced all 29 original single-pane windows in a house from 1906 and re-insulated it, and said the job involved some tweaks but was all done to their satisfaction. A 2025 reviewer who had a new home built said the company dealt with unexpected surprises on the building lot. A 2018 customer wrote that after a pipe burst flooded a gallery and recording studio, the company arrived that day, put up scaffolding in the stairwell, and over the next couple of weeks repaired the walls, replaced the hung ceiling, fixed the sheetrock and repainted. A 2024 Reddit comment called the company very pricey but very thorough.
“Wright Builders are great. Very pricey but very thorough”
“The architect, Bruce Coldham, and contractor Seth Lawrence-Slavas of Wright Builders, felt the best course of action was to remove that section, install a proper footing, and then rebuild it on the same footprint in a similar style to the rest of the structure.”
“In early 2023, Piwonka and Wright Builders Inc. President Seth Lawrence-Slavas began working together to pre-plan a new building when the 2 Fosters Road lot went up for sale.”
“The founder of Wright Builders, Inc., one of the leading construction firms in Western Massachusetts for 50 years, Wright was a member of the first graduating class at Hampshire College in 1969 and found himself searching for his way in the world.”
“Seth Lawrence-Slavas, who recently acquired Wright Builders Inc. from founder Jonathan Wright, talks about the efficiency of the window system in one of the houses at the Pine Meadows Development.”
“NORTHAMPTON - Seth Lawrence-Slavas, president of Wright Builders Inc., announced that he has completed his acquisition of company founder Jonathan Wright's interests, ensuring both”
Have you ever considered new ways to curb your carbon footprint? We came across Wright Builders listening to public radio. “Sustainable” & “Earthkind.” Next thing you know – we are in design meetings with a Wright Builders VP and a fellow who works adjustments to the graphic layout of our floor plan, in real time on a series of Zoom sessions. A few months later the contract is inked, the weather warms up, and ground is broken. A project manager becomes assigned to our house. We are 2,400 miles away for most of the build as he sends photos, produces live videos, and keeps us up to date over the phone. “Earthkind” and “Customerkind.” I’m now sitting in our sunroom. Looking through a bank of huge triple-pane windows. There’s a Serviceberry tree, a row of Arborvitaes, and a couple Cardinals out there. The walls are about a foot thick. The solar panels on the roof generate just a little more power than we use. It’s not an exotic house. There’s no gold inlay around the hearth. But the walls and doors are perfectly square. The trades were all top notch. The materials all solid. This place will wear very well. Look no further in The Pioneer Valley.
I own a landscape/ hardscape company that has worked with Wright Builders for over 10 years. They are a top tier firm with excellent communication and craftsmanship. They always bring a competent team to each project and are on the leading edge of eco friendly thoughtful design. They are willing to take on small remodeling projects and new custom homes. We see these projects from start to finish and put the last details of stonework and landscaping in place. Wright Builders has been one of the “go to” builders in the Pioneer Valley for many years and will continue to be for years to come.
I am a drywall subcontractor and have been working with WBI for over ten years. From day one, the entire team has treated me like family. Communication is solid, expectations are clear, and there’s a strong sense of mutual respect on every project. Everyone works together to solve problems and make sure each job is completed properly and on schedule. It’s rare to find a company where teamwork, consistency, and long-term relationships truly matter, and WBI is one of those companies. I’m proud to continue working with them and look forward to many more years of collaboration.
I was very impressed with the quality of the work Wright Builders provided while building my new home. I chose one of their net zero EarthKind homes, Cape Promise and altered it a bit for my needs. Their commitment to the environment, energy efficiency and good reputation are some of the of the main reasons I chose their company. No project of this size comes without challenges and there were a few, mostly because of unexpected surprises with my building lot. They went with the flow, figured out how to deal with the challenges and best of all kept re-assuring me through the stress of downsizing, moving to another state, selling my previous home, living in a hotel and with family until we received the go ahead to move in. The sub contractors they work with are top notch and very professional. I initially worked with Nick, who was very helpful in the design, layout and pricing. Keith was my PM, who is very knowledgeable and was easy and pleasant to work with. The office crew is very helpful and friendly. I am very happy here in my new home and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good quality, environmentally friendly company.
Jane and I are now veterans of four major home improvement projects beginning 23 years ago with our purchase of an historic property from 1906 in Pelham, Massachusetts. We’ve built a 3-car garage with 2nd floor studio, added a 3rd story master bedroom suite, and renovated our kitchen from scratch. With the retirement of the contractor who oversaw those projects, we knew we’d have to work with a new firm for the last of our planned projects: replacement of all 29 of the original single-pane windows, and complete re-insulation of the structure. We chose Wright Builders to do the job. Being retired now, I was able to keep an eagle eye on every detail. And while I’m sure that wasn’t always fully appreciated, the fact is, at the end of each day, I was impressed by the precise work and speed of the crew. Except for exterior painting which has to be done in the spring, a major project that was anticipated to spill over into the new year was completed three weeks ago. Was every last thing perfect? No, and after all the work we’ve had done over the years, I don’t expect it to be. Fitting new windows into a 120 year-old structure and sealing up every last air leak involved some tweaks. But in the end it was all done to our satisfaction. Nick Wright, along with project manager Todd and foreman Eddie were all very pleasant to work with and immediately responsive to any questions or concerns. The windows, the new shingles and the trim all look great. We’d recommend Wright Builders to anyone.
