Yardstick Tree & Site Preservation, Inc says it has been in business for 38 years and offers free estimates. A 2012 customer said the company removed two fifty-foot spruce trees and trimmed walnut trees, and described Mr. Montgomery as the licensed arborist for Yardstick. Another 2012 customer said the owner came out the day after Christmas with a written estimate, and that a tree over the house, one close to the house and one over power lines were removed with no damage to the house or power lines. A 2011 customer said the lead crew member climbed the tree because of the tight fit in the yard and brought it down in pieces. A 2012 customer said they ground two tree stumps and pulled out some bushes. A 2014 customer said a tree removal left half of the front yard damaged and pulled the cable line and power line out of the outside wall of the house. A 2012 customer paid $670 for pruning and said a large limb broke off about three months later, with no follow-up after three calls to the company. A 2014 customer said the company set dates for the work, then did not do it and did not call. A 2026 reviewer who said they had worked for Bob Montgomery alleged unpaid wages and checks that were no good.
