Every written account of A & A Fence Construction stops in 2019 — and the fourteen that exist average 4.7 out of 5, with 86% of them at five stars. It is a Wakefield shop at 5 Auburn Street, and its BBB profile names Herb Andrews as owner, puts the business at 28 years with nine employees, and carries an A+ grade, though the company is not BBB accredited. On Angi it describes itself as a family owned and operated business. The work is plain fence work: sales, installation and repair in chain link, vinyl and PVC, wood, picket and post, with BBB listing residential, commercial and municipal customers. What the older reviews keep circling back to is the crew doing what it said it would, when it said it would. A 2018 customer described a job scheduled for three days finished in two, in 95-degree weather. Another, writing in 2017, said the crew worked so quietly that "we didnt even know they were there unless we went in the yard," then cleaned up and hauled the old fencing off. A different 2017 homeowner had the job pushed back repeatedly by rain and said Andrews kept them posted through all of it. Two things are worth raising on the phone. The single dissenting account is old but concrete: in a 2014 review a customer wrote that the people and the work were fine, but the crew left the unused materials behind for them to dispose of. The bigger caveat is age — nothing has been written about this company since September 2019, and all fourteen ratings sit on one platform, so the praise above describes a crew as it worked seven-plus years ago, not necessarily the one that would show up this spring. Its own tenure numbers also don't agree. BBB dates the start of the business to 1998 and calls it 28 years; the Angi profile says almost 20 years while also flagging 25 years of experience. Nothing sinister in that, but it means the "how long have you been doing this" answer is worth getting straight from Andrews. For a straightforward residential fence — a run of vinyl, a chain-link repair, a couple of sections added — the older accounts all point in the same direction, and the A+ grade and long history back them up. Before booking, ask who is actually on the crew now, get the timeline in writing, and settle up front what happens to the old fence and the leftover material when the trucks leave.
They arrived on time, did the job and were patient with me and professional. Would use again. Had a chain link fence repaired and 2 sections added.
Great job and showed up when they said they would.
Very friendly, quality work. Excellent value!
These guys were absolutely phenomenal! The final product exceeded my expectations. They showed up on time, worked their butts off in 95 degree weather and got what was supposed to be a 3 day job done in 2. A really good group of guys who clearly knew what they were doing. I cannot recommend them strongly enough. Do not take a chance with anybody else - if you have a fence project that you want done by experts call these guys.
