Ace Energy Services works out of Ipswich and sells one idea: get the building science right first, then size the equipment. The company installs ducted and ductless heat pumps, solar and EV charging across eastern and central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, and it is also a HERS rating provider — the same team that runs the energy modelling does the equipment sizing. It says it is a lead installer for Mass Save. The BBB grades it A+ without accrediting it, and lists a corporation started in 2015 with two employees under manager Timothy Gould. That combination is exactly what customers single out. A May 2026 homeowner who had two heat pump systems installed said Jake ran a thorough Manual J analysis and that the installs were clean and well integrated. Someone renovating an 1850s house with a three-level addition described using one team from pre-construction design through rebates, with the HERS load calculations feeding the equipment sizing — four outdoor units and nine interior cassettes. A 2024 customer who reviewed three quotes with an independent heat pump coach said Ace offered the best plan and technology at a competitive price, and worked to place all three outdoor units neatly at the back of the house as asked. Old houses come up repeatedly: a February 2026 reviewer had a Bryant ducted system put in half their house in November 2025 and found electric heating cost on par with the gas it replaced through an unusually cold winter; a 2025 customer converting an 1890 home with existing ducts called the custom solution flawless a year on. Several accounts mention the company preparing the Mass Save rebate paperwork. The dissent is about responsiveness, not workmanship. A one-star reviewer in September 2024 said the estimator was pleasant and thorough but quoted $19,000 and then never answered their follow-up questions; they hired another local company for $9,000. The Reddit heat-pump benchmark that ranked Boston-area installers in June 2025 made a similar point from the other side — good for homes with existing ductwork, but logistics could be better and installs take longer. They are a strong choice for a whole-house conversion in an older or complicated house, especially if you want the load calculations done properly and the rebates handled. Push for a written timeline, and confirm they will answer questions after the estimate lands.
“Ace has a HERS rating background and can do airflow testing.”
“Great for homes with pre-existing ductwork, but logistics could be better. Installs take longer.”
Ace Energy Services installed two heat pump systems in my house and I am very happy with their work. Ace is both a heat pump installer and a HERS rater so they know building science and it shows in their proposals and their work. Jake did a very though Manual J analysis of my heating and cooling needs and designed good systems to meet them. Ricardo and Mohamad lead the two installations which are clean and well integrated into the house. Tim was a pleasure to work with on the business side. I understand building science, heat pumps and construction and I admire the work that Ace Energy has done in my house. I highly recommend them.
A/C Installation: Great experience beginning to end. Tim and Jake from the front office were responsive, professional and informative. Jake ensured a complete and thorough understanding of the equipment, contract, placement and install. He went above and beyond to ensure that we had all of the documentation needed for the MA Save rebates. Pricing was consistent with installation expectations considering the size of the job. The real heroes are Ricardo and his partner Angel, they installed 8 A/C units, 2 condensers, attic and outside drainage, worked with the electricians and kept an efficient schedule (amongst many other tasks). Ricardo was extremely knowledgeable answering any and all questions that we had and providing tutorials of the units. His professionalism along with the pride and precision that he put into his work made the experience that much better. Highly recommend and will definitely use Ace Energy for future jobs. Thank you for a job well done!
In November 2025, Ace installed a Bryant ducted heat pump system to service half of our house. It's been working well even in this unusually cold winter. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that the cost of heating with electricity is on par with the previous cost for heating with natural gas. Ace also provided all the information I needed to submit my MassSave rebate application. I highly recommend Ace Energy Services!
I worked on a full renovation of a ~2600 sq.ft house built in 1850 including a ~1200 sq.ft. three level addition. I chose the HERS rated and tested approach for my build plans and permits. Since Ace does both HERS and HVAC it was a big convienence to work with one team from pre-construction design through each stage of contruction all the way to applying for rebates and incentives. We did an all electric conversion that included four outdoor units and nine interior cassettes. The guys doing all the initial heat load and energy efficiency calculations for HERS also do the equipment sizing. For me this collaboration was critical and they took the time needed to get it right. In the end the whole house far exceeded our initial goals and exceeded new construction performance standards. Being a historic house it was not an easy installation. They worked with me to get all the equipment out of sight. But probably the best measure of any contractor is how they react when there is an issue. We had a problem with one of the cassettes and they not only stood by the equipment and the installation but made sure the entire system was performing as expected. And all at a competitive price.
Ace installed a heat pump at my house and they were outstanding. It was my first heat pump and they were very knowledgeable and helpful with all of my questions. They also fixed up my old leaky ducts. Highly recommend!
