Verified record
Air Tight Weatherization is a Middleton, MA insulation and weatherization contractor whose Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active and registry-verified. The clearest recent signal is a Reddit account from this August: a homeowner used the state's MassSave energy program to have Air Tight Weatherization insulate their 1875 house, calling the process smooth and reporting roughly a 30% drop in heating bills for the winter compared to the year before, despite colder weather. That result tracks with a deep, mostly older written history. Across 22 Angi and HomeAdvisor reviews running from 2018 through 2022 — averaging 4.7 stars on both platforms from 27 ratings each — the same names and themes recur: Shant and Robert are singled out repeatedly for being responsive and walking customers through the spray-foam process, crews show up on time, and the finished work is described as clean and efficient. Several reviewers specifically called the pricing fair or reasonable, including one who compared multiple bids and called the company extremely competitive. One 2018 customer left a practical tip worth knowing — if you're drywalling over new insulation, ask the crew to clear the rafter ends first. Not every account here is glowing. A 2020 review described an initial job that wasn't finished the way the customer had agreed, though the crew came back and fixed it to their satisfaction; another from the same year appreciated timely updates but wished they'd been told in advance how spray-foam overspray on floors and ductwork would be handled. One 2019 Angi rating came in at half a star with no comment given, and a separate 2019 HomeAdvisor review recommending "Genesis Insulation" rather than Air Tight Weatherization by name sits oddly among reviews that otherwise clearly describe this crew — worth noting rather than ignoring. Separately, BuildZoom lists two EPA lead-safe renovation (RRP) certification numbers for the company, both shown as inactive or cancelled at some point — worth asking about directly if your home was built before 1978, since lead-safe work practices matter on older houses like the one from the Reddit review. Beyond insulation, BuildZoom and the Better Business Bureau both list a broader carpentry and remodeling scope — framing, siding, windows, cabinets, and finish carpentry among them — though the customer history here is built almost entirely around insulation and spray-foam jobs. For an insulation or weatherization job, especially one paired with a MassSave rebate, this is a contractor with a long, largely consistent track record and a verified state registration — just confirm the current lead-safe certification status before signing if your home predates 1978.
“We got it done with MassSave for our 1875 house. It went really smoothly, we requested that Air Tight Weatherization did the work and they did a great job. It reduced our heating bills by about 30% this winter compared to last years winter, even with this year being colder. The one thing is we had to get the vermiculite insulation removed from our attic, which was more expensive than the actual insulation process.”
They did a great job with very reasonable price! Flexible on the schedule and I would definitely recommend them.
Great service!
From proposal site visit to project completion this team was top notch. They were flexible, professional and efficient I got several bids and ATW was extremely competitive. The site work was clean, efficient, and fast. Bravo!!!
This project wasn't an easy job. There were some tight areas where there weren't enough spaces. Also there were many obstacles like a heating and dryer duct and got a lot of different wires, but they did a great job on time. John Han
